3. Playa Perla Blanca

5. Playa Turquesa
6. Playa Guardalavaca
7. Playa Pilar

1. Playa Los Flamencos

With 22 km of creamy-white sands & cerulean waters, Cayo Coco has some of Cuba’s best beaches, hands down & attracts holidaymakers effortlessly to its stunning shores. On the north coast, the best beaches are clustered, dominated by all-inclusive hotels. The broad three beaches of Cayo Coco, home to the all-inclusive & filled with boisterous events, hog the narrow easternmost peninsula jutting off the north coast of the cay. Leave the main beaches and drive towards Playa Los Flamencos for a pocket of tranquilly. The beach has 3 km of fine sand and clear waters where tangerine-coloured starfish are swimming in the shallows. Snorkelling out to sea is also nice, which makes it one of the best beaches in Cuba for adventure lovers.

2. Playa Francés

On the most isolated upturned hook of land on Isla de la Juventud, lies Punta Francés. There is more than 3 km of beach in total, separated by a sandy headland into two wide curves of smooth. Also, you can find a silver shore ringed on one side by the lush green of a woody, palm-specked thicket and the glassy Caribbean Sea on the other. This private world’s desolate tranquilly is all part of what makes it special amongst other beaches in Cuba, though crowds of cruise-ship tourists often ruin this. The surrounding reefs are equally attractive; the beach lies within the ecologically protected area of the island, which is famous for its excellent diving.

3. Playa Perla Blanca

One of the newest tourist beaches in Cuba is the northern cays, a network of small islets. The cays are connected to the mainland by an impressive 48 km causeway which makes the trip all part of the adventure here. Cayo Santa María lies at the far end of the line, home to Playa Perla Blanca, one of the area’s most beautiful beaches. Its charm lies in its remote, untouched feeling. But it’s worth the ride, a total of 52 km from the mainland: the sand is as good as it’s getting in Cuba.

4. Playa Sirena

The tiny islet of Cayo Largo, a small ribbon of land flanking with light downy beaches, is separated by 100 km of sea from Isla de la Juventud. With no permanent population, it is entirely targeted towards holiday-makers who are attracted here for the enticing beaches and diverse water sports. It is protected from strong winds and rough waves by the offshore coral reef. Also, with over 2 km of breathtaking white sand, Playa Sirena, on the western tip of the cay, enjoys a well-deserved reputation as the most beautiful of all beaches in Cuba.

5. Playa Turquesa

Simply translated as “turquoise beach,” it does not come as surprise to find that Playa Turquesa is one of the region’s most beautiful beaches. Playa Turquesa is filled with golden sand and bordered by mangrove forest at its eastern boundary. The shallow bay has a small coral reef a short swim offshore while a strip of thick forest between the Riu Playa Turquesa Hotel and the beach makes it feel completely undiscovered.

6. Playa Guardalavaca

For good reason, the resort of Guardalavaca is popular than other beaches in Cuba. A succession of beautiful beaches sweeping around sheltered reefs, backed by a surrounding landscape of gentle hills and sugar cane fields. That’s amazing, huh? One of the area’s best beaches in the stunning Playa Guardalava, a 15000 m stretch of sparkling white sand that attracts both Cubans and tourists alike. A strip of palm and tamarind trees running along the middle of the beach offers a cool walkway and dapples the sand with shade. Also, you will find a variety of stands on hand to rent out snorkelling equipment.

7. Playa Pilar

A more serene retreat than Cayo Coco’s rowdier neighbour, tiny Cayo Guillermo boasts 4 km of gorgeous near-deserted beaches. With such an abundance of relatively untouched sand, there is no lack of choices for a bit of isolation, but one of the beaches in Cuba that shouldn’t be skipped is Playa Pilar stunning. Playa Pilar is named after Ernest Hemingway’s yacht, Pilar, on the western tip of Cayo Guillermo. It is also one of the favourite hideaways of the author in Cuba. With limpid clear shallows and squeaky-clean beaches in Cuba, it is definitely Guillermo’s top beach pick.

8. Playa Ancón

Playa Ancón is frequently praised as one of Cuba’s best beaches and it’s easy to see why. It’s one of the longest beaches & boasts a stunning sandy sweep that arches across the glittering turquoise waters. While the beach may have put the area on the tourist map, it has managed to retain a natural feel, with trees and shrubs creeping down to the sea. It’s a fine jumping-off point for snorkelling and diving along the shoreline in the reefs, plus Trinidad, the colonial jewel of Cuba is just a stone throw away.
