Initially, warehouses were built at the quay to transport commodities for commercial purposes. However, in the later stage, the Singapore river began to get heavily polluted because of which the government decided to relocate the cargo services.  Quickly, the government cleaned up the river and transformed the quay into a flourishing commercial and entertainment area. Clarke Quay is widely famous for its nightlife but is also a gorgeous place sprinkled with colonial-era architecture and undergoes a boisterous transformation in the night. The vibrant nightlife is definitely an unmissable experience.
