Falling sick is a part of the day to day life and being on the road doesn’t clear you from that fact particularly when travel itself endangers you to a whole new kind of germs, parasites, and circumstances. The key to decreasing the chances of this is to actively resist the risk factors of falling sick in the first place. The last thing you want to do is to open yourself to any more hazard than you have to. Prevention is far better than any cure especially while travelling so safe travel has to always be on your mind.

1. Wash Your Hands

I know this sounds elementary, but it is shocking how many people overlook it. The simple act of cleaning your hands is as a key element in infection restriction. Hand sanitation is fundamental to stop the spread of infection and can dramatically decrease your possibilities of diarrhoea, vomiting, food poisoning, gastroenteritis, flu, norovirus, MRSA, or even hepatitis A. Many travellers pack small containers of hand gel and these are excellent as a substitute but they aren’t a backup for regular old soap and water. Wherever feasible, wash your hands below warm water for at least thirty seconds before and following eating and always following using the toilet.

2. Try and Stay Active

One of the top ways to stay fit and strong and battle off unwanted diseases is exercise. The advantages of exercise are well recognised and well documented -it enhances your overall health and well-being and reinforces your immune system which makes you less sensitive to sickness. If you do fall ill, your body is adequately able to battle off the infection and more promptly get you back on your feet. It isn’t foolproof because healthy people still fall sick but in general the fitter you are, the more reliable your body will be at shrugging off that bothersome virus or illness.

3. Get Vaccinated

Vaccinations are presumably one of the most regular travel health concerns that people should take to ensure safe travel. There is no one-size-fits-all solution for safe travel but there is one common constant- If you can shield yourself, it is a sound idea to do so to make sure of safe travel.

4.Protect Yourself Against the Sun

Protecting yourself from the sun goes past receiving a bad sunburn. You should also stay well hydrated to ensure safe travel especially in a country or region with humid or sultry climate as well as dress up in loose clothing and even a cap or scarf. If you don’t, then dehydration can set in very speedily and that can lead to more severe ailments such as exposure, heat fatigue, and heatstroke which if left neglected can become a medical crisis.

5. Be Careful Of What You Eat

If you are not cautious with your food there is a risk to safe travel, you could possibly be endangering yourself to diarrhoea, E. coli, Shigella, Salmonella, Giardia, Entamoeba histolytic, Campylobacter, Cryptosporidia, Cyclospora, cholera and much more illnesses that would be harmful to your life. You should always make sure as much as is possible that any food you eat is fresh, cooked completely and served hot in hygienic working conditions.
