The Maldives Whale Submarine Tour: Worlds Deepest diving passenger submarine

If you are someone who is visiting Maldives but isn’t comfortable with swimming, then chances are that you aren’t comfortable with snorkelling or scuba diving either. So you might be very much disappointed that you’d miss out on all the fun while your friends or family taunt you over how beautiful the reefs and aquatic life are. Well, don’t you worry as there is another brilliant way to indulge and experience the coral reefs of Maldives, a submarine ride. Yes, you heard me right, you can take part in a submarine ride and just sit back, relax and take in the sights without worrying about managing to stay afloat or think about how much oxygen you have in your dive tank.

Its called the Whale submarine and it’s a one of a kind experience as the whale submarine is the only passenger submarine that you can experience in South East Asia. It’s a 45-minute ride which essentially means that you get to spend more time underwater than a single scuba dive and one other major advantage is that the submarine ride also allows you to explore further depths than a dive will allow. You see in Maldives, most scuba dives go to a maximum depth of 30m while the submarine ride is known to go to depths of 45-50m. This also makes it the Maldives Whale Submarine the World’s deepest diving passenger submarine in existence as well. So the experience you get here is truly one of a kind and not commonly found elsewhere in other parts of the world. If you wanna turn that up by a notch, you can also choose to take an undersea dining experience where the Whale Submarine is converted into a restaurant. The DeepSea Restaurant as they call it operates in the hours just after sunset and the submarine is equipped with powerful lights that aid in making the sea visible underwater in the night.

Now all this does come at a cost obviously but it’s quite a bit more affordable than you might think. The tour costs about USD 85 for adults and USD 45 for children ages 3 to 11, infants are not allowed on the ride due to safety concerns. This pricing falls in line with what scuba dives might cost you if you are doing one for the first time and more importantly it comes without all the hassle of a dive. More importantly, if you have kids who aren’t yet 10 years old, they can’t do a scuba dive since that is the minimum age requirement for open water dives. So this fits right in and you can share the experience with them as well so that they don’t miss out on anything. So, that’s all there is to the Whale Submarine tour.
