Patong Beach in Phuket: Visiting the Real Heart of Phuket Nightlife

Patong is the largest beach and the most popular beach resort in Phuket. Deemed to be one of the ‘coolest’ places in town, it offers a wide variety of activities and a sparkling nightlife. By night, the city is shining with light and has an air of liveliness that includes hundreds of continuous activities in restaurants, beer bars, Go-Go bars and, of course, night clubs. The nightlife is based around Soi Bangla and is filled with local and international tourists. This place is full of steaming hot streets, neon signs, and a noisy atmosphere. It is the ideal spot for party lovers in Patong Beach.

About Patong Beach

The largest beach in Phuket and is a 2,85 km long stretch of white soft sand.

It is Phuket’s most popular, busiest and crowded beach. And don’t expect you to have this big white-sandy beach. It’s getting especially crowded around sunset. You can rent beach chairs and parasols, get a tan, swim in the pool, play water sports, and watch some people.

The southern portion of Beach is quieter and more relaxed and is our favourite part of the beach.

If most people think of the lively Patong district of Phuket, they think of beaches, parties and nothing else. In reality, the area has a lot more to offer. Here are some of the best things to see and do in the notorious Patong.

Spend a night on Bangla Walking Street

Let’s start by getting obvious out of the way; Patong ‘s key draw for those who come here is Bangla Walking Lane, and for good reason. A pedestrian street, full of beer restaurants, bars and nightclubs, Bangla is the best spot on the island to let loose and have a night out in town. Whether you enjoy a beer at the infamous Tiger Disco or enjoy a famous DJ performing at the Illuzion nightclub, Bangla caters to all tastes and you’re sure to have a night to remember.

The Simon Cabaret Show

Thailand is known for its culture of transgender people, and they are also the butt of many racist jokes. Yet it’s their talents at Simon Cabaret Show that are at the centre of the discussion, not their gender. Patong ‘s Simon Cabaret Show is among the best of its kind, where glamorous performers wow the audience night after night with their expert singing and dancing routines, captivating choreography and colourful outfits. It’s quite the series, it’s child-friendly and in the least not seedy — a shift from other advertised deals in the region. After the case, performers are always happy to pose for photographs, providing you with a lifetime memento from this spectacular display.

Shopping

Patong is a nice shopping location to indulge in. Located up Bangla Walking Street is Jungceylon, a shopping complex with a number of international and local shops offering the latest trends and fashions. Shops such as Swarovski, Levis and Coach are present in the That’s Siam zone, alongside local crafts and boutiques. There are a variety of shops along the beach alongside Jungceylon, with people peddling all kinds of items, from knock-off cosmetics and clothes to authentic Thai souvenirs. It might not be Bangkok ‘ shopping paradise but it has more than enough to help cure the itch.

Muay Thai Fight

Muay Thai is Thailand’s national sport and if you haven’t seen a fight yet, you need to change that. It is a brutal sport in which the hands, knees and elbows are used as well as the fists in strikes; the sport is definitely not for the fainthearted. As well as being fun as a sport, it is also enjoyable as a cultural spectacle. Fighters perform the wai khru before the battle begins, a dance that pays respect to their teachers, parents and ancestors. Set to traditional Thai music, it’s an art form that precedes violence, making it a juxtaposition of interest. At Bangla Stadium, right in the heart of Patong, Muay Thai bouts happen regularly and are well worth checking out.

Partake in Water Sports

While many of the beaches in southern Thailand do not require water sports, if that’s what you’re looking for, Beach is one of the best places to go. From jet skis and parasailing to windsurfing, there are plenty of water-based sports to get up on this side of the island, with plenty of vendors on and off the beach, ready to fulfill your dreams. A water sports fan but not a sand fan? Then go to the House of Surfing. Surf House, located on Beach Street, is a flow-riding destination where surfers of all ages and abilities can surf on artificial sea waves that sound just like the real thing.

One thing Phuket isn’t short on is beaches, and you’ll find some of the best rights in Patong. Although Beach itself isn’t the best looking, it’s still a long strip of soft sand and blue seas that are popular all day because of its variety of activities, from daytime water sports to nightly beach parties; the area still ticks the boxes for many people. Look no further than Freedom Beach, for a stunning beach. It’s much quieter and more peaceful, despite being close to Beach, due in part to the difficulty of getting there. For a beach easier to get to, A good choice is Paradise Beach to the southwest of Patong. Somewhere between Freedom and in terms of tranquillity and beauty, the white sands of Paradise Beach, imposing rocks and dense green backdrop help to explain how it got its name.

Enjoy some well-deserved Spa
