Pickyourtrail Launches Curious Feet Campaign on World Tourism Day

We, at Pickyourtrail, believe travel transforms lives. We believe every journey brings with it its share of surprises, life-changing experiences, and brand new milestones, besides (obviously) a lifetime worth of memories. Over the last half a decade we’ve witnessed how travel has touched the lives of thousands of people and encouraged them to further pursue lands unexplored and adventures unknown. This World Tourism Day, we wish to channelise this infectious energy into shaping young minds and creating a more mindful world—for there is no medium more powerful than travel 🙂

Therefore, we have partnered with Chennai-based NGO, Team Everest, to combine the magic of travel and education through our flagship campaign, #CuriousFeet. As part of the initiative, we’re super thrilled to offer a fully-paid informative trip to Singapore for a student from modest backgrounds, along with a mentor from Team Everest. Through the campaign, we hope to highlight the exposure travel brings to students, and how it induces their curiosity to gain a new perspective about multiple cultures and diverse ecosystems.

Sandhiya, a Team Everest Scholar and a second-year B.Sc Computer Science student at Tagore Arts & Science College, Chennai, has been handpicked to undertake this once-in-a-lifetime adventure based on her outstanding performance in academics. Sandhya stays in Pallavaram with her mother and grandparents. While her mother worked as a housemaid until she underwent a surgery recently, her grandmother supports the family by selling newspapers. A coding enthusiast, Sandhya is a budding software engineer and has already built a website all on her own as part of a project with Team Everest!

During her trip to Singapore, Sandhiya will be introduced to a gamut of multi-cultural experiences and digital innovations with visits to places of educational interest like Science Centre Singapore, ArtScience Museum, MOSH!, Keppel Centre Red Dot Design Museum, Esplanade—Theatres on the Bay, Peranakan Museum, Universal Studios Singapore, National Gallery of Singapore, and Asian Civilisations Museum, etc.

Speaking about the campaign, Hari Ganapathy, Co-Founder of Pickyourtrail said, “We’re thrilled to fuel this movement where travel’s potential as a constructive medium of education is being actively tapped into to shape young minds and inspire an entire generation. We hope this initiative creates an impact and help put the spotlight on learnings beyond classrooms.”

Speaking on the collaboration with Pickyourtrail, Karthee Vidya, Founder of Team Everest said, “We are super excited to team up with Pickyourtrail for the Curious Feet Campaign. By gifting a travel opportunity to a student from modest backgrounds, Pickyourtrail is enabling them a sense of freedom, awareness and self-esteem gained through travel, which we feel is more valuable than teachings limited to classrooms. We are hopeful that he/she acquires a lot of new skills from the whole experience. A big thanks to Pickyoutrail for coming up with this idea.”
