Quarantine free travel in Thailand from February 1, 2024!

Finally, good news for all the travellers wishing to travel to Thailand in 2024. As per the latest reports, Thailand is resuming a quarantine-free travel scheme for international travellers from February 1 so, you can explore the destination just like the old days! The tourism-dominated economy of Thailand has suffered a lot as the visitor numbers dropped down to a trickle. This program was suspended earlier due to the rise in Omicron cases.  

The travellers with full vaccination will now be able to enter the country under the Test and Go scheme. They will also have to take COVID tests on the 1st and 5th days after arriving. It was started by the country’s COVID-19 task force, Taweesin Visanuyothin. The travellers have to wait and will isolate themselves at a hotel while waiting for their test results. They also have to download a tracking app to ensure that they comply with the rules.

The Test and Go scheme is to boost the country’s economic performance. This scheme was launched in November as an alternative to two weeks’ hotel quarantine but the programme was suspended due to the rising in Omicron cases in the country. As per the estimates of the Tourism Ministry, it is said that around 5 million travellers will likely visit Thailand in 2024.
