  1. This Zoo was built with a capital of 9 Million SGD and it opened on 27 June 1973. This Zoo occupies 28 Hectares on the margins of Upper Seletar Reservoir.
  2. This Singapore Zoo attracts many people to explore its exotic wildlife in their rich natural habitats. It is the largest zoo in Asia and the 5th largest in the world.
  3. Astove, The Aldabra giant tortoise from Seychelles, is the oldest animal in the zoo. The Tortoise at the zoo turned 80 this year. This Tortoise breed weighs more than 300 Kgs and has blue eyes.
  4. There are several cases of animal escape in the zoo. The famous was the escape of two Sun bears in 1973 and the escape of a Black Panther.
  5. You can have Breakfast with Ah Meng, The Orangutan. It is the Star of the zoo, who has featured in over 30 travel films.

North-South Line:
Choa Chu Kang, NS4 (927), Ang Mo Kio, NS16 (138),
Woodlands, NS9
and Marsiling, NS8 (926). The last 2 services will only be operating on Sundays and Public holidays.

Mandai Khatib Shuttle:

This Particular loop shuttle runs from Khatib MRT Station (NS14) to the Singapore zoo coach bay. The Timings of the Shuttle will be 8:00 AM (First bus Khatib Station) – 7:20 PM (Singapore zoo Coach bay). The Frequency of the shuttle will be 20 minutes and the time of travel will be around 15 minutes.

By Bus:

Take the bus from Safari Gate or Suntec city, which will take you straight to Singapore Zoo.

By Taxi:

Singapore Zoo is 30 minutes away from the city centre.
