Australia is truly unique. One can travel there during any part of the year and still enjoy a perfect vacation. It may be the smallest continent ever but it sure is bigger than one thinks. Scattered between the oceans, the cities of Australia are pretty extraordinary and is a vibrant place to live in. With stunning beaches, nature at its purest state, amazing wildlife, Australia is one of the most captivating destinations to travel.

The wildlife found in Australia is extremely special and unique and cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Australia even allows you to get close and know more about its wildlife in its natural habitat, which also makes it to be on one’s bucket list to visit.

Best places to see wildlife in Australia

1. Kangaroo

Kangaroo is the national animal of Australia. While you can see them hopping on the road and the neighbourhood across Australia, we suggest you head out to Kangaroo Island, roughly about two hours long ferry boat ride from Adelaide, which is the best place to see. The kangaroos there are together, hopping and jumping from one place to another in the vast spread island. While you are there, try not to miss out on rare sea lions across the coastal line.

2. Quokkas

Often confused with squirrels, Quakkas are completely different from them. Quokkas are said to be the happiest animal on earth and can be found only in Australia, making it unique. Take a ferry to Rottnest Island from Perth, and you will be able to view hundreds of them. Remember, not to touch or feed them as it is considered illegal and you may end up in jail. Just kidding, only about the jail part. The island is said to be car-free, so if you wish to explore them, grab a bicycle and kick those pedals.

3. Koalas

Ooh, another cool animal, the Koalas are found throughout Australia, but spotting one can be a little difficult. Visit the Koala sanctuary at Brisbane, and you’ll get a chance to cuddle them. A chubby animal with lots of fur will surely make you smile.

4. Platypus

Who has seen Phineas and Ferb, a cartoon which I’m pretty sure everyone is heard of. And yes, the platypus that comes in it, you can see them in Australia. Platypus is a laid back mammal that pretty much does what it feels likes. The best place to see them would be the Jenolan caves located at the Blue Mountains.

5. Tasmanian Devils

Cute little yet not so charming animal is the Tasmanian devil. A carnivorous animal, which is found only in the islands of Tasmania is one of the rarest species. You can visit them in a protected environment at Maria Island aka Tasmania’s Noah’s Ark.
