1.Kok Lok Tong Cave Temple

This cave temple is considered as the crown of Ipoh and this massive rock structure covers a land of 12 acres. This is worshipped for about 100 years by the native Ipoh people. Inside this amazing cave, you will find the Buddhist and Chinese cultural remains like paintings on the walls of the cave and to all of your surprises, there are trails which takes you past two glassy lakes.

Apart from that, if you want to relax the Zen Garden welcomes you to its calm frame with its footpath around the garden. And this footpath is also the longest of its kind in the city due to the size of land this place covers.

2. Explore the Lost World of Tambun

The lost world of Tambun is one of the biggest and with a wide range of activities and the area itself is so vast. Additionally, there is a water park and another place called tiger valley. Lost world petting Zoo and Lost world hot springs are the places that you can visit if you love animals.

3. Check out the Birch Memorial Clock Tower

This is a famous black and white monument built in order to honour J.W.W Birch, a British man who was considered as one of the first inhabitants. This clock tower was built in 1909 sadly after his assassination took place in 1875. At the top of the tower, there are four figures who are considered to depict the four virtues of the English government.

In addition to this, you will find a mural which depicts the forty-four famous historical figures with the likes of Darwin, Shakespeare and Buddha. And there is a big bell at six feet tall.

4. Take a trip to the Gaharu Tea Valley

This blissful place is located on the outskirts of Ipoh, a place called Gopeng. If you are looking for an engaging day trip then this would be my bet. This is a proper city-escape. Spanning for 300 acres, this place is completely covered with Gaharu trees around 2,00,000 in numbers.

While you here you can also take a tour to the plantation. You can get the aerial views of the acres of Agarwood trees. There is a famous tree which is 20 years old and the belief is that hugging the tree can bring good fortune to you.

5. Tour the Ling Sen Tong Temple

Fascinated by the religious architecture, Long Sen Tong Temple is a must-visit then. This is a day trip from Ipoh to the cave temple influenced by Taoistic lifestyle. You will come across lots of figures of animals which belong to the Chinese legends. You can take a stroll around the complex to find a calm pool where you can relax, and also you have a beautiful garden to relax.

6. Trek the Ulu Geroh Rafflesia Trail

The Ulu Geroh Rafflesia is a giant flower that grows only in this part of the world, Sounds more like an old Hollywood movie. This trail is to the village Called Ulu Geroh in Gopeng. Not only this rare flower, but this place is also a home for a wide variety of flora and Fauna. Some of the notable ones are durian orchards and rubber plantation is very commonly found out here.

And The fun fact about this giant flower is that it has a very pungent smell, as it is called the Corpse plant. You might need a guide for this trek as it grows only in specific locations. And finding a guide who can communicate in English shouldn’t be a problem.

7. Go shopping at Memory Lane

Called as the memory lane is the flea market in Jalan Lim Bo Seng. The market comes to life only on Sundays and starting from the morning. You can find a huge number of goods with the likes of Souvenirs and other local antiques.

Since this place is in the city radius you can expect some haggling. And negotiation is a must-do thing as the vendors will also be ready to negotiate if you buy more than one or two things from them.

8. Visit Ipoh World

This place is for the people who want to understand the culture and the background of the cities Perak and Ipoh, should visit this place. In addition to this, the place has some rich history and complex heritage. This is an NGO, established in 2004. Apart from that, one gets to know about the history of the Kinta Valley.
