Best Time To Visit Sri Lanka

The ideal season for hitting the west and south coasts and hill country is usually from December through June, whilst the strongest weather on the east coast is from April / May through September. Secret Beach, Mirissa

A small secluded beach, and not the easiest to reach. Therefore Secret Beach is so lovely. There is one small bar and there is a local woman who sells coconuts. The visitors can enjoy an amazing Secret Beach sunset.

Coconut Tree Spot

A small coconut farm situated on a hilltop is a 15-minute drive from Mirissa Beach. The view from here, or sunset view, is simply amazing.

The Doctors House is the place to visit for a great afternoon party with surf vibes. It is a 15-minute drive away from town and is highly recommended for visiting. The large garden has the perfect laid-back vibe, great food , beverages and live music.

Top Things To Do

Whale Watching

For her marine life Mirissa is quite famous. They offer whale-watching tours at the beach, taking the guests out on the Indian Ocean to spot whales , dolphins and tortoises for a few hours. The best way to spot whales is from the end of November through to March.

Day Trip To Unawatuna and Galle Fort

Unawatuna is a cool little town where you can wander around or spend some hours on the beach. There’s a lot to do at Unawatuna. Galle Fort is the spot to shop and visit the ancient Dutch Fort. Located about 38 km from Mirissa, Galle Fort is one of Mirissa’s best places to visit while somebody’s on a holiday. It takes about an hour to get there and if someone goes on a day trip, it is a must-visit. Built by 1588, this fort offers a glimpse into the history, outlook and shopping opportunities.

Tangalle Beach

Tangalle Beach is a coastal refuge for people from Sri Lanka and nearby regions. Located in Sri Lanka’s southern province, close district Hambantota, Tangalle Beach is a must-visit spot. The beach stretches for about 10 km and is a great place to relax and unwind on your holiday in Sri Lanka.

Surfing

In Sri Lanka Mirissa Beach is a fine spot to continue surfing. The waves look great and surfers really love being here since there’s just a small crowd. Surfing to ideal surfing conditions from October to March.

Snorkelling

The offshore coral reefs surround the beach of Polhena to offer calm, shallow waters which are ideal for snorkelling. The colourful corals provide refuge for an array of aquatic wildlife. The water is unpolluted and pristine allowing you to witness the vibrant fishes. If the area is visited during the monsoon, however, visibility is a problem.

Mirissa beach is filled with lovely restaurants making it the perfect place to enjoy a dinner at sunset. The alcohol in Mirissa has turned out to be the cheapest we find anywhere in Sri Lanka as an added bonus. 90% of restaurants have a happy hour running from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. making all drinks 200-300LKR. Also, food is reasonably priced, though a little more expensive than what could be paid off the beach. Even, the vision is worth it. Even if the tourists are in fish then this is the perfect spot to have it because it’s all caught fresh.
