2020 has been a very different year filled with ups and downs. The downside as we all know is the outbreak of the pandemic. But there is a silver lining that we can look forward to as well. IPL 2020 which was supposed to happen in the month of March was postponed indefinitely. Tears of joy erupted in the minds of all Indians as it was announced that IPL would be held in September! With all safety measures in place, the Dream11 IPL T20 is all set to begin towards the third week of September 2020. Amidst all the excitement, we bring to you the list of ultra-luxurious hotel properties of the IPL teams.

The IPL is set to take place in the United Arab Emirates in various grounds around Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. All players of the 8 IPL teams have landed in the UAE and are undergoing the procedures of quarantine and testing. Upon landing, they have to undergo a 7-day quarantine period during which they are not allowed to meet their fellow teammates. The players and their crew will be tested for COVID-19 on day 1, 3 and 6 of the quarantine period. To keep up the morale of the team and plan strategies, virtual team meetings are being conducted.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru – Waldorf Astoria, Dubai

The style icon himself, Virat Kohli and his teammates will be staying at Waldorf Astoria at Palm Jumeirah, Dubai. This is a luxurious sea-facing property with its own private beach. The restaurants and suites of this hotel boast of opulence which is classic to the Royal Challengers. The IPL franchise as a whole has also made it a point to ensure that players spirits are kept high. This is the reason for choosing grand properties.

Kings XI Punjab has also chosen their property within Dubai. Sofitel The Palm, Dubai is located close to the hotel in which the Royal Challengers have set up their camp. This is also an ultra-luxurious property which will prove to be a great place to relax after a tiresome game. Considering that players will not have the crowd to cheer them, the luxury at these properties is sure to pep them up.

Chennai Super Kings – Taj Dubai

The veteran Chennai Super Kings will be staying at Taj Dubai. Taj Dubai is located close to Burj Khalifa which is the tallest building in the world. An entire floor of this hotel has been booked for the members of Chennai Super Kings. The CSK clan has always been known for family members cheering the team on during matches. Unfortunately, we will not get to witness their zeal during this season. The players have decided to keep their families off-limits for safety reasons. However, a call on the same will be taken later depending on the way the season progresses.

Kolkata Knight Riders – Ritz Carlton, Abu Dhabi

Does King Khan’s definition of luxury need an introduction? Apart from owning a luxurious property in Dubai, Shahrukh Khan has made sure that Kolkata Knight Riders stay at one of the most lavish properties in Abu Dhabi, the Ritz Carlton. It is located at a comfortable distance from the airport and a large chunk of the rooms have been booked for the team. The Knight Riders are in for a treat, aren’t they? 😉

Mumbai Indians – St Regis Abu Dhabi

The defending champions Mumbai Indians owned by the Reliance Group will be staying at St Regis Abu Dhabi belonging to the Marriott group. This is also a lavish sea-facing property and the franchise is taking all efforts to ensure the safety of their players. In fact, there have even been talks on renting out private apartments to the players.

Apart from this the Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Rajasthan Royals have set up their base in Dubai at Palace Downtown, Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort and One & Only The Palm respectively. The idea is to ensure a practice-hotel-matches-practice sort of environment for the next three months. Not only will this prove to be a much needed holiday experience for the players, but they would also be doing something they love.
