The idea of the wax museum was of Ms.Marie Tussauds. Marie Tussauds began creating wax models since 1777. She then opened the first museum at Baker Street, London in 1835. Later in 1883 due to the small space and rising cost, her grandson re-opened the museum at Marylebone Road in Central London. As the museum became popular and a major tourist attraction, it opened different branches across the world.

In 2012, the wax museum was opened at the Darling Harbour in Sydney. This museum is the only one in Australia and has become a famous tourist attraction over the years. This museum not only lets tourists take a picture with the famous celebrities but also helps them understand the fine details of these life-like appearances.
