Located at Diglipur, the pristine Saddle peak is one of the prime tourist attractions in North Andaman. The peak is surrounded by thick forest area and it serves as a perfect home for 13 indigenous birds species, 36 indigenous species of insects and 6 species of indigenous trees. Because of its richness, the peak is recognized as a National Park by the government of Andaman. At 732metres, the peak offers a panoramic view of an abundance of natural beauty around and a magnificent aerial view of Andaman. The national park is popular amongst the hikers and trekkers who are looking for an exhilarating adventure.

Trekking experience in Saddle Peak

Saddle Peak is the best place to have nature connected trekking experience, as the park consists of various species of flora and fauna. As you stroll to the dense forests and the aroma of the earthly fresh trees and nature made steps created by roots of the old trees, which gives a beautiful trekking experience to the visitors. The 8km long climb on a sunny day could be challenging, ensure you carry a water bottle and mini speakers to listen to some of your favorite songs which might make you feel fresh.

The entire trek consists of three levels. The whole trek will take up to 10hrs. It is always advised to start as early as possible to enjoy the experience. The sunsets are very early and you need to reach the base station by 4:30 Pm for safety reasons. Ensure you start your trek right after sunrise so that you can reach back before sunset. You will be dropped in a cab at the base of the hill and from there your journey starts. It is best preferred to opt for a guide so that you will be taken to the right spots at the right time to get the best and picturesque view of the whole of Andaman. After 3hrs of trekking from the base, you will reach the first saddle peak. From there you can see the majestic final saddle peak. Stopover at the 1st peak to get some instagrammable pictures of the majestic saddle peak. You can also see sandals wood trees and trees with wild edible fruits. These wild trees make the forest cool and pollution-free.

As you ascend up you will reach the 2nd peak in another 2 to 3 hrs time depending upon the speed at which you walk. The 2nd peak is considered as the best peak in its cluster, as the peak offers a birds-eye view of the whole forest and Andaman. As you climb up the final peak is more challenging, so it is best recommended for the newbies to stop at the 2nd peak to get some amazing ariel view and best trekking experience.  The final Saddle peak will take a minimum of 10hrs trek but it is worth climbing up to the final peak.
