About

This beautiful castle is located on a rock which makes it more spectacular and offers some of the best views. It is on the banks of Lake Geneva adding more beauty to the castle. This water castle is also known as the most visited building in the whole of Switzerland. From the 12th to the 16th century the castle belonged to the Counts of Savoy and then was conquered by the inhabitants of Bern and subsequently, Vaud inhabitants prevailed.

This huge castle has a total of 25 buildings and 3 courtyards which are protected by two circular walls. Wall paintings from the 14th century, parade halls, bedrooms and every other room, all are very well preserved in their original form to date. This castle entertains more than 400,000 guests each year and offers them the best experiences.

How to Reach Chillon Castle?

You can choose out of these 3 ways to reach Chillon Castle:

• By Car
• By Public Transport
• By Boat

1. By Car

You can reach your destination by the A9 motorway, Villeneuve or Montreux junctions. The car parking is free of cost in front of the castle. Do not leave your valuable items in your vehicle as lockers are available at the castle grounds. 

2. Public Transport

• Train: There is a direct train to Montreux or you can also take a local train to “Veytaux-Chillon”.
• Bus: Take Bus N 201 from Montreux, Vevey or Villeneuve and you can easily reach your destination. The Chillon bus stop is right in front of the castle and every 10-20 minutes there is a bus for the castle.

3. By Boat

Many boats depart from Montreux, Lausanne, Vevey and Villeneuve on a regular basis. The Chillon boat stop is 100m away from the castle.

• April to October: 9:00 am to 6:00 pm (last entry at 5:00 pm)
• November to March: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (last entry at 4:00 pm)
• Closed on the 25th of December and 1st of January
