How to Reach Mount Pilatus

The journey to this precious mountain is as fantastic as the peak. Mount Pilatus is located close to Lucerne and can be easily reached by cableway, train or by hiking. The Golden Round Trip is the most famous route to reach the top of Mount Pilatus but it can be only used from May to October. 

• Cableway: Firstly you will have to drive from Lucerne to the small town of Kriens and from there you will have to buy tickets for a cableway and a gondola to reach the top of Mount Pilatus.
• Cost: 78 CHF (adults) and 40 CHF (Children under 16)
• By Cogwheel Rail / Train: Take a train from Lucerne station to Alpnachstad station and then take the cogwheel rail to reach the top of Mount Pilatus. 
• Cost: 72 CHF (adults) and 36 CHF (Children under 16)
• Hiking: This is not the best but a favourable option to reach the top of Mount Pilatus. If you know trekking and trek regularly then you can try this option as well. It will completely be an extraordinary experience.
• Distance: 26 km

Mount Pilatus will not disappoint you as it offers plenty of fun activities to participate in. 

1. Hiking: The amazing Mount Pilatus has several peaks offering many viewpoints. You can trek to any of those to witness the best panoramic views of Switzerland. The hikes are short but straight and may prove tiring and a little difficult. Tomlinson is the highest peak of all, hence it will offer the best views ever. The hike to this wonderful peak will take up to 40-50 minutes but the end result will be satisfying. 
2. Paragliding: A great experience one can have is participating in paragliding. 
3. Eat Swiss Delicacies: Swiss delicacies are known all over the world and no one can miss them while you are in Switzerland. Eat delicious fondue, chocolates, rosti, and so much more accompanied by compelling views. This top tourist destination has a lot of cafes and restaurants to visit and explore.

Travel Tips for Mount Pilatus

• Try to visit Mount Pilatus as early as possible to avoid crowds and enjoy a lot of time here. 
• Do not wear slippers, boots, etc on your trip to Mount Pilatus. Wear walking shoes or trekking shoes as you may need to hike and trek at a few points.
• Book tickets online especially during peak season
