The United Kingdom is a great place to visit during this time of the year (Summer / Autumn) before the winter sets in. In fact, England, Scotland, Wales and the Offshore Islands offer a host of great vacation and holiday destinations with something for everyone – singles, couples and families – whether they plan to cross an ocean, take a cross country train trip or simply drive down the motorway for their next trip. We have 13 reasons to hit the right nerve and tempt you to pack your bags and experience the English life with us. Just tell us when and where, and we’ll get you going!
1. Cornwall

You can’t get further west than the ancient Celtic kingdom of Cornwall (or Kernow, as it’s known to Cornish-speakers). Blessed with the southwest’s wildest coastline and most breathtakingly beautiful beaches, this proudly independent peninsula has always marched to its own tune.
2. Hadrian’s Wall

Named for the Roman emperor who commissioned it in A.D. 122, Hadrian’s Wall stretches 117 kilometers across northern England from coast to coast. Its purpose was to deter the barbarians in what is now – Scotland, from their raids on Roman Britain.
3. Lake District

England’s famed Lake District, in the northwestern county of Cumbria, boasts breathtaking scenery that has inspired some of the country’s most famous poets and novelists. With rolling mountains, the isolated region is home to an abundance of wildlife, some found only here and nowhere else.
4. Eilean Donan Castle

Head down south west from Inverness, towards the brink of the Isle of Skyee to explore the Eilean Donan Castle and marvel at this picterestque surrounding while trying to spot out exact locations where blockbuster movies like ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and ‘Kandukondain Kandukondain’ were shot.
5. The Roman Baths

Enjoy Bath’s rich history, brought to life at the Roman Baths, enjoy lunch or afternoon tea in the Pump Room, and also bathe in the natural thermal waters at Thermal Bath Spa. Voted the most romantic building in Britain in a RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) poll, the Roman Baths and Temple of Aquae Sulis Minerva are among the finest Roman remains in Britain.
6. Portree

Set round its natural harbour and fringed by high ground and cliffs, the town is a popular tourists’ holiday destination and the harbour continues to be used by fishing boats as well as pleasure craft.
7. Kilt Rock

This is a popular stopping point on the road between Portree and Staffin. You have to look north up the coast to see the Kilt Rock. Closer by is the Mealt Waterfall, which freefalls off the cliff for 60m into the Sound of Raasay below. Sometimes, when the wind is strong, the water is blown away and it doesn’t reach the bottom at all.
8. Bibury

Bibury is a charming, typically Cotswold, village just a short drive from “The Capital of the Cotswolds”. The cottages of Arlington Row are often referred to as the most photographed and beautiful cottages in the country.
9. Piccadilly Circus

Piccadilly Circus is one of London’s most popular tourist destinations. Here you can sit by the famous statue of Eros (a popular meeting point), or take some photos in front of the iconic advertising hoarding. From here, you can easily walk to Regent’s Street, Piccadilly or Soho. Don’t miss out on checking out some of the iconic plays like 39 Steps or Les Miserables.
10. Glencoe

The autumn is an excellent time of year to capture the Highland glens in all their glory. With the sun still putting in an appearance but giving much lower angles of light, and some amazing colours in the grasses, bracken and leaves, it’s definitely time to get the camera out. Oh .. and you may also spot the house where the Bond movie “Skyfall” was shot.
11. Wales

The name Wales is actually derived from an old Saxon word meaning foreigners or outsiders. It‘s also interesting to note that in the French language Wales is known as Pays de Galle, a name that reflects the Celtic roots of Wales, and the historical links between the two countries. With three National Parks within its borders (Brecon Beacons National Park, Snowdonia National Park, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park) this has become a Must Visit destination in the UK.
12. Neist Point

Neist Point is one of the most famous lighthouses in Scotland and can be found on the most westerly tip of Skye near the township of Glendale. While the walk down is an easy one, the concrete path does get quite steep at times. From the path you will see stunning views of the high cliffs and the lighthouse itself, at sunset the view is made even more spectacular making this a top destination for landscape photographers.
13. Loch Lomond

Rich in wildlife and nature, enjoy the forests, woods, lochs, bens and glens of the area and get pleasure from the wide and diverse range of birds, animals and plant life. Within easy reach of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling enjoy a day out or take a break, visit Loch Lomond and wake up in real Scotland.
