I am not going to talk about the power of music or the moving, heartwrenching effect it has upon people. Let’s talk real music and real music lovers here. Featured in this list are publicly intense and uplifting music festivals that exist for the hardcore. Regardless of genres and artists, these festivals strive to make the world a better place for people who’re always complaining about not enough music in their lives. Every country’s got its own such festivals, each unique in their own ways. So get yourself moving and follow these trails like its the Bible. Selfies with Beyonce! Who doesn’t want some of that? These upcoming music festivals are just too precious and the bands and artists that visit will be history.
Woodstock:
16 August 2019
It started in 1969 as a peace gathering. 4 days of peace, nothing else! Thousands of heads bobbed in unison, grooving to the music of the greats. If you ask me, they are one of the luckiest crowds to have gathered since the history of music. They saw the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Santana, The Who, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane and Jeff Beck live, in all their glory. The crowds kept coming in swarms after a point tickets were no longer necessary. Every person felt like they were something much bigger than the crowd itself. The festival has run out of fuel for now but is all set to bounce back in Poland. This time it is their 50th anniversary, so great stuff could be expected. Just 50 miles away from Berlin, endless hammocks and campsites await great music. Do not miss it this time!
Glastonbury:
June 26-30 2019
Summer in the UK means one thing. The Glastonbury Musical Festival! Taking place inside a neat farm, this has become a tradition for the English. Madonna graces the stage frequently and so do some American pop singers like Taylor Swift, Katy Perry etc. Ed Sheeran, Foo Fighters and John Legend performed here in 2017. The line-up for the upcoming year is rumoured to be Paul McCartney, Fleetwood Mac, The Beach Boys, Kendrick Lamar, and you wouldn’t have guessed it- Robert Plant!
Coachella:
12-21 April 2019
A music festival that is everything for a millennial in America. Every teenager would kill to go to this annual festival that is quite a bomb in California. Coachella is where the people merge with celebrities and live happily under sunny skies. Coachella is where fashion is at its proudest state. Kylie and Kendall, Jared Leto, Beyonce, Leonardo di Caprio are often spotted in the festival grounds. Every year, Instagram grows more and more popular with Coachella with all the elaborate Bohemian accents in clothing, artistic displays and a hundred more interesting things. Beyonce, Eminem, The Weekend and a lot of other artists are gonna be there. Count yourself in.
Montreux Jazz Festival:
29th and 30th June 2019
This festival started out as a pure jazz festival and progressed to become a more open one. Jazz legends like Ella Fitzgerald, Bill Evans and Kieth Jarett started what was picked up by rock Gods like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. Today, it remains a jazz centred music festival with an emphasis on Brazilian music, rock bands, artists and even rappers today. Eric Clapton, BB King, Gary Moore, Santana and Van Morrison are a few people who performed live here.
Rock in Rio:
14-22 September 2019
Rock in Rio is an epic music festival that originated in Rio de Janeiro and has now moved on to Lisbon and Las Vegas. It is one of the largest rock music festivals ever. A lifetime of music comes down as a week of this festival. Bands and players of Queen, Guns n’ Roses, Bruce Springsteen and Iron Maiden can be found delivering soul-chilling guitar riffs and drum solos. Rihanna, Bon Jovi, Justin Timberlake and Beyonce are regulars too. Using music as a universal language is their main theme. The initiators of this festival even built a city of rock on the concert grounds.
Splendour in the Grass:
21-23 July 2019
The festival was named after Wordsworth’s ‘Ode: Intimations of Immortality’ and is a three day packed renditions of splendour itself. Situated a little farther from Byron Bay, it is Australia’s favourite. The atmosphere at the festival is so uplifting, it will your heart in a different swing. The line-ups are always full of the country’s favourites. Recent years saw Tame Impala, Sticky Fingers, The Smith street band and a lot of individual artists. The line-up for the upcoming year has Kendrick Lamar, Lorde, Vampire Weekend, DJ Khalid, Angus and Julia Stone and at least a fifty Australian bands and singers. I don’t know about you, but this is as good as it gets.
Tomorrowland:
9-16 March 2019
Tomorrowland in Belgium is a glorious spin-off of the American version. It is now a mecca for electronic music, dance music fans. All the best DJs and bands that have hit it off in their fields started here. The concerts are so famous that it has become a national festival now. Avicii, Hardwell, David Guetta, Martin Garrix, Afrojack and Armin van Buuren are regulars, like many other legends. 2019’s line-up includes David Guetta, Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike, Hardwell, Carl Cox, Ben Klock and Martin Garrix.
