Shadows of the Past: Corfu Town Dark History Walking Tour


Our tour begins from nearby the New Fortress of Corfu town which is a Venetian fortress built on the hill of St. Mark in Corfu in stages, at the beginning of 16th century. The current buildings which exist within the fortress were built by the British during their rule of the island (1815–63).
The Venetian fortifications were later expanded by the British and the French to help defend against a possible Ottoman attack.

Mon Repos is a former royal summer residence a little outside Corfu Town. It lies south of Corfu City in the forest and botanical gardens of Palaeopolis. Since 2001, it houses the small archaeoligical excibition of Palaiopolis

The Palace of St. Michael and St. George is an historic building in Corfu Town. Commissioned by Sir Thomas Maitland, it originally served as the residence of the British Lord High Commissioner of the Ionian Islands. It was built between 1819 and 1824, to a neoclassical design. 
The building houses the museum of Asian Art, various temporaty excibitions of greek painting and student projects of visual arts

This is our meeting point where we will have a briefing before we head out onto the water. If you are a beginner we will run through an introduction to SUP lesson then start with the tour, we paddle out of the bay towards a tunnel and some caves we can explore. We are always looking out for marine life and we will stop to go swimming and snorkelling. 

We are approximately 3km from the centre of Sivota. If you have driven there is free parking at the beach.

Discover all about the Mediterranean marine life, as you explore our aquariums, home to local fish and sea creatures. Once you’ve passed the fish tanks you will come across our reptile house which features a variety of international reptiles and amphibians.
