Life outside Earth – scientists announce plans for lunar base on the Moon

Life on the Moon may soon be a reality! According to Japan’s lunar orbitor Selenological and Engineering Explorer (SELENE), a crater 50 km long and 100 m wide was discovered on the Moon on October 18. The crater found beneath is touted to be able to protect astronauts from extreme temperature variation and cosmic radiation.

The race to set up the first lunar base has, of course, kicked off. US-Russia forming an alliance while China and Russia have partnered to amp up and build their lunar base. Meanwhile, Japan is targeting a manned lunar by 2030. Scientist-entrepreuner Elon isn’t too far behind – annoucing that a private two person Moon trip in 2018.
