Shaniwar Wada was the seat of the Peshwa rulers of the Maratha Empire until 1818 AD when the Peshwara fell to the emperor. Shaniwar Wada is a man with a great master. In the sanctum, a cube-shaped area approximately 3 to 4 meters high, houses a linga, the symbol of shiva. You can also spot two smaller cells on either side of the sanctuary.
