Picture yourself wandering through lively streets filled with tantalizing aromas of street food, vibrant nightlife, and the enchanting stories hidden in every corner. Let’s embark on this backpacker journey together, discovering not only the iconic landmarks but also the lesser-known gems that truly capture the spirit of Osaka.

Highlights of the Destination

  • Osaka Castle: An iconic symbol of the city’s rich history, surrounded by beautiful gardens that are perfect for a leisurely stroll.
  • Dotonbori: The pulsating heart of Osaka’s nightlife, where neon lights and delicious street food create an unforgettable atmosphere.
  • Kuromon Ichiba Market: A sensory playground where you can taste fresh seafood and local delicacies while mingling with vendors and chefs.
  • Hidden Temples: Venture off the beaten path to discover serene temples tucked away in charming alleys, offering a glimpse into Japan’s spiritual heritage.

Travel Tips for Osaka

  • Public Transport: Get a prepaid ICOCA card for easy access to trains and buses, making your travel around the city seamless.
  • Local Cuisine: Don’t miss trying Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki; these dishes are a must for any food lover visiting Osaka.
  • Language: While many people speak English, learning a few basic Japanese phrases can enhance your experience and connect you with locals.
  • Cash is King: Although major establishments accept credit cards, many smaller shops and restaurants prefer cash, so keep some yen on hand.

Conclusion

Osaka is more than just a city; it’s an experience waiting to unfold. As you spend 2 nights and 3 days here, you’ll find yourself captivated by the warmth of its people, the diversity of its culture, and the deliciousness of its food. We booked our Japan trip through PickYourTrail and overall, it was a well-organised and smooth experience. The itinerary planning, coordination, and execution were handled efficiently, which made our trip largely stress-free. The arrangements and logistics were good, and the team was available throughout the trip for support whenever we needed assistance, which was reassuring in a foreign country like Japan. That said, the stay could have been a little better in terms of quality and room space, and keeping a backup plan (in terms of transport availability) would have further made our experience better. A more local curated experience would also be preferred. Further, our special thanks to the team Dev, Chithranshu, Chandramauli, Prem, and others for their continuous support and responsiveness. Overall, it was a good experience, and I would recommend PickYourTrail for planning international trips, especially for first-time travelers to Japan.
