Frequently Asked Questions About Austria Travel

How much does an Austria trip cost from India?

A 7-day Austria trip costs Rs. 1,50,000-2,50,000 per person for mid-range travellers, including flights, accommodation, meals and sightseeing. Budget travellers can manage with around Rs. 1,50,000 by staying in hostels, using public transport and eating at local restaurants. Luxury travellers should budget Rs. 3,00,000+ for 4-5 star hotels and fine dining experiences.

How many days are enough for Austria?

5-7 days is ideal for seeing Austria's main highlights, including Vienna, Salzburg and Hallstatt. With 7-10 days, you can add Innsbruck or explore the Wachau Valley wine region at a relaxed pace. If you're combining Austria with Switzerland or Germany, plan for 10-14 days total. A long weekend (3-4 days) works for a Vienna-focused city break, but you'll miss the Alpine beauty that makes Austria special.

Austria is moderately expensive but more affordable than Switzerland, Norway or the UK. Daily costs range from Rs. 5,000 for budget travellers to Rs. 15,000 for mid-range comfort. Dining out costs Rs. 800-1,500 per meal, and attractions charge Rs. 800-2,000 for entry. Train travel is reasonably priced at Rs. 15-40 per kilometre. Book accommodation outside city centres and eat at local restaurants to save money without compromising experience.

What is the best month to visit Austria?

September and October are the best months for visiting Austria. These months offer pleasant weather (10-20°C), stunning fall colours, fewer crowds and lower prices than summer. April and May also work well for spring blooms and comfortable sightseeing. Visit in December for magical Christmas markets, or January-March for skiing.

What are the must-see places in Austria?

Don’t miss Schönbrunn Palace, Hallstatt village, Salzburg’s old town, Vienna’s classical concerts, and skiing in the Alps.

Picking Pick Your Trail has been one of the best decisions we took for our Europe trip. From start to finish, it has been a smooth experience. Mithun has been outstanding communicator during initial planning stage of the trip, very patient and accommodative of our requests. During the trip, 24/7 chat was so handy and efficient. The hotels picked were all great and conveniently located. We had to cancel one of the activities booked and it was hassle free with refund processed swiftly. All vouchers in digital form within the app is a neat feature too. The reminders 24 hr prior with all the required details was also a nice touch. All in all, I cant fault the customer service and experience provided by PYT. We will use PYT again and highly recommend them.
