• ETIAS is not currently in operation: As of 23 October 2026, the official EU website says ETIAS applications are not yet being collected. • Longer-validity multiple-entry visas are not guaranteed: Some applicants with a strong travel history may qualify for a multiple-entry visa. The validity and decision depend on the applicable rules and the consulate's assessment.

There is no single bank-balance amount that applies to every Schengen visa applicant. The funds you need to demonstrate depend on your destination country, length of stay, accommodation arrangements and travel plans.

Consulates assess whether you can cover your trip and return journey. They may consider bank statements, income, employment, sponsorship and prepaid accommodation or travel arrangements.

Before applying:

• Check the financial-means requirements of the Schengen country where you will spend the most time or through which you are applying.

• Provide the requested bank statements and income documents.

Do not rely on a universal ₹1.5 lakh–₹2.5 lakh balance as a guarantee of approval. Meeting a published financial threshold does not guarantee that a visa will be issued.
