Bhutan is one of the magical countries in the world. Right from its monasteries to the amazing trekking life the mountains in Bhutan offer, this place is so interesting. Being one of the last remaining Buddhist kingdoms in the world, Bhutan can be called a small paradise on earth. There is something so mesmerizing about Bhutan that easily touches your soul and rejuvenates it. Anytime in Bhutan is a nice time to visit but I have a few reasons why visiting Bhutan in June can be worth the visit. There are a few things you should be knowing before planning your trip to this ancient yet beautiful country to have the best experience.
How is the weather going to be in Bhutan in June?
June is one of the pleasant months to visit Bhutan. Though June is the onset of monsoon, not every place in Bhutan receives rainfall. It is also observed over the decades that June in Bhutan has only been pleasant. Pre-monsoon showers can be expected in southern and eastern parts of Bhutan, that too in the second half of the day. The temperature will range between 15-25 degree celsius so make sure to have a cup of aromatic tea while you are there.
Festivals celebrated in June
One better way to celebrate and enjoy the Bhutanese culture is by taking part in the festivals. If you are making it to Bhutan in June, here are the festivals you can visit.
1. Nimalung Tsechu
The festival is celebrated for 3 days with chams and dances. On the last day, people also get blessings of Guru Rinpoche. It is popularly celebrated in Nimalung Dratshang and Bumthang Dzongkhag.
2. Kurjey Tsechu
Being one of the most celebrated festivals in Bumthang, people mainly gather as respect to Guru Rinpoche who spread Buddhism in Bhutan. It is celebrated only for a day with dances including Shinjay Cham and Guru Tshengye. The final part of the festival is the Thongdrel being unfurled.
Kurjey Tsechu starts on the final day of the three-day festival Nimalung Tsechu.
Best places to visit in Bhutan
Here is a list of places that you can visit during the month of June while making it to Bhutan:
1. Paro
Paro is popular for the very reason that it houses so many historic places within the city. Tiger’s Nest is one of them, most liked not only for the structure but also for the trekking it provides. Apart from this, there are many more places that can be explored and June is the perfect month as trekking trails start this month.
2. Bumthang
The name Bumthang stands for the meaning Beautiful field. Right from giving you some best views of the city to some best festivals, Bumthang should be on your list if Bhutan in June is your plan.
3. Thimphu
Though there are many places to visit in Bhutan, there is something about its capital, Thimphu. It is home to not only the ancient monuments but also some cafes and restaurants, places to shop for artefacts and handicrafts thus making it unique from other cities in Bhutan.
Despite the mild rainfall, it is a good choice to visit Bhutan in June. The precipitation during June will give you some fascinating views of valleys.
