South Africa offers a different experience in every region, and two weeks gives you time to explore that variety without rushing from one stop to the next. Spend a few nights near Kruger National Park on wildlife safaris, explore the dramatic scenery of the Panorama Route, discover Cape Town's mountains and coastline, and continue through the Winelands and Garden Route. A South Africa Tour Package 13 Nights 14 Days gives you the flexibility to combine wildlife, culture, scenic drives and coastal experiences in one extended holiday.
This itinerary can take you from the bushveld around Hoedspruit to the Blyde River Canyon, then south to Cape Town, Hermanus and Knysna. Enjoy multiple safari drives, explore the Cape Peninsula, visit vineyards in Stellenbosch or Franschhoek, and leave time for beaches, forest walks and lagoon-side evenings. Travellers looking for an even bigger adventure can also consider extending their trip to Victoria Falls, subject to additional travel time and entry requirements. With over 10 years of travel-planning experience, Pickyourtrail helps you coordinate the different parts of a multi-region South Africa holiday. Choose your preferred accommodation, safari experiences and activities, while our team helps organise domestic flights, transfers and bookings. Why Choose a 13 Nights 14 Days South Africa Package?
Fourteen days gives you the time to experience South Africa's wildlife, landscapes, cities and coastline in one thoughtfully planned holiday.
- Explore Multiple Regions: Combine the Kruger region, Panorama Route, Cape Town, the Winelands and the Garden Route instead of limiting your holiday to one part of the country.
- Spend More Time on Safari: Stay several nights near Kruger and plan multiple game drives. Longer stays offer more opportunities to observe wildlife, although sightings are never guaranteed.
- Discover the Panorama Route: Visit Blyde River Canyon, God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes and the Three Rondavels, depending on your chosen route and conditions.
- Enjoy Cape Town at Your Own Pace: Make time for Table Mountain, the Cape Peninsula, Boulders Beach, Bo-Kaap and the city's waterfront.
- Experience the Cape Winelands: Explore Stellenbosch or Franschhoek, with options for cellar tours, wine tastings and vineyard dining.
- Follow the Garden Route: Travel through coastal towns, explore Knysna Lagoon and visit nearby beaches, forests and outdoor attractions.
- Create a Holiday Around Your Interests: Choose a romantic safari, family-friendly activities, premium lodges or adventure experiences such as hiking, ziplining and bungee jumping.
- Consider an International Extension: If you want to see Victoria Falls, discuss extending your stay or adjusting the South Africa route to accommodate additional flights and sightseeing.
Sample South Africa 13 Nights 14 Days Itinerary
This sample South Africa 14-day itinerary combines safari experiences, scenic drives, city sightseeing, vineyards and coastal exploration. The route and number of nights in each destination can be adjusted to match flight schedules, accommodation availability and your travel preferences.
Day 1: Arrive in Johannesburg
Arrive at OR Tambo International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day settling in after your international journey. Depending on your arrival time, explore a nearby neighbourhood or enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.
Highlights: Airport transfer, hotel check-in and leisure time.
Day 2: Fly to Hoedspruit and Enjoy an Evening Safari
Take a domestic flight to Hoedspruit or another suitable gateway for your selected safari lodge. Transfer to your accommodation, check in and relax before an afternoon or evening game drive, if included in your package.
Explore the surrounding bushveld with an experienced guide and look for wildlife in its natural habitat.
Highlights: Domestic flight, safari lodge stay and optional evening game drive.
Day 3: Explore the Kruger Region on Safari
Start early with a morning game drive, when many animals may be active. Return to your lodge for breakfast and some time to rest before another afternoon drive, depending on the lodge's schedule.
Look out for elephants, giraffes, antelope and, if you are fortunate, members of the Big Five: lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and buffalo.
Highlights: Guided game drives, wildlife viewing and lodge leisure time.
Day 4: Enjoy Another Day in the Bush
Spend another day discovering the wildlife and landscapes around your safari lodge. You may choose an additional game drive, a guided bush walk where permitted, or a lodge-based experience, depending on availability and your accommodation's offerings.
Use the time between activities to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings.
Highlights: Additional safari experiences, nature activities and time at the lodge.
Day 5: Explore the Panorama Route and Blyde River Canyon
Travel towards the Blyde River Canyon area and explore the Panorama Route. Depending on your route and available time, stop at viewpoints such as God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes and the Three Rondavels.
The route offers dramatic views of cliffs, valleys and rock formations. Check the day's driving plan in advance, as distances can be substantial.
Highlights: Panorama Route, Blyde River Canyon and scenic viewpoints.
Day 6: Discover Blyde River Canyon and the Surrounding Area
Spend another day exploring the canyon region at a relaxed pace. Choose scenic viewpoints, nature walks or other local activities that fit your interests and physical comfort.
You could also consider visiting Pilgrim's Rest, a historic gold-rush village, if the route and opening arrangements suit your plan.
Highlights: Canyon scenery, nature experiences and optional heritage sightseeing.
Day 7: Travel to Cape Town
Transfer to the appropriate airport and fly to Cape Town, directly or via Johannesburg depending on available schedules. Check in to your hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening at the V&A Waterfront.
Browse the shops, enjoy a waterfront meal or simply unwind after your travel day.
Highlights: Domestic flight, Cape Town hotel stay and V&A Waterfront.
Day 8: Discover the Cape Peninsula
Set out on a scenic drive along the Cape Peninsula. Travel along Chapman's Peak where accessible, visit Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope, and stop at Boulders Beach near Simon's Town to see African penguins from designated viewing areas.
Enjoy the coastal scenery and allow time for breaks along the route.
Highlights: Chapman's Peak, Cape Point, the Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Beach.
Day 9: Explore Table Mountain and Cape Town
Visit Table Mountain and take the aerial cableway if it is operating. From the summit, enjoy panoramic views of the city, surrounding mountains and coastline.
Continue to Bo-Kaap to explore its colourful streets and cultural heritage. Depending on your schedule, consider Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden or a Robben Island tour, subject to availability.
Highlights: Table Mountain, Bo-Kaap and optional Kirstenbosch or Robben Island.
Day 10: Experience the Cape Winelands
Take a day trip to Stellenbosch or Franschhoek, two well-known destinations in the Cape Winelands. Explore vineyard landscapes, visit selected estates and enjoy wine tastings or a leisurely lunch where available.
Non-drinkers can also enjoy the scenery, local food and heritage attractions. Arrange transport in advance if you plan to visit multiple estates.
Highlights: Vineyard scenery, cellar tours, optional tastings and regional dining.
Day 11: Travel to Hermanus
Leave Cape Town and drive towards Hermanus through the Overberg region. Once there, enjoy coastal walks, ocean viewpoints and time in the town centre.
During the whale-watching season, Hermanus is known for opportunities to spot southern right whales from the shore. Sightings depend on the season and sea conditions.
Highlights: Scenic coastal drive, cliff-top paths and seasonal whale watching.
Day 12: Travel Along the Garden Route to Knysna
Continue towards Knysna, planning for a substantial road journey. Depending on your chosen route, you can stop in Mossel Bay or explore another coastal town along the way.
Arrive in Knysna and settle into your accommodation. Spend the evening near the lagoon or waterfront, enjoying the town's relaxed coastal atmosphere.
Highlights: Garden Route scenery, coastal stops and Knysna Lagoon.
Day 13: Explore Knysna and Plettenberg Bay
Spend the day discovering Knysna's waterfront, lagoon and surrounding scenery. You can also visit Plettenberg Bay for beaches, coastal viewpoints or selected outdoor activities.
If adventure is on your list, consider an excursion towards Tsitsikamma National Park for hiking or other available experiences. Choose activities based on the time required and your onward departure arrangements.
Highlights: Knysna Lagoon, Plettenberg Bay and optional nature or adventure activities.
Day 14: Depart from South Africa
Enjoy breakfast and check out of your hotel. Transfer to George Airport for your onward journey if the flight schedule suits your departure plans. Otherwise, arrange an alternative departure airport and allow enough time for the road journey and airport formalities.
Highlights: Breakfast, check-out and airport transfer.
Itinerary note: This route involves domestic flights and several long road journeys. Finalise the sequence according to flight schedules, transfer times and accommodation locations. Victoria Falls is not included in the 14-day sample above; it generally requires extra travel time or a revised itinerary.

Trip to SA -The itinerary planning was sloppy from start. Couple of swapping of hotels without reasons being said. Due to the swap of hotel in Capetown, things were bit not in favour for tourists. The hotel had no parking and they had paid valet parking. And then the entry and exit of the hotel leads to a square inn with refugees staying there. No complaints on the refugees, but just that they stare at the tourists which we wouldnt feel secure.Miscalculation of driving timings while planning.A practical knowledge on the places will help them probably in planning. The place itself, activities over there, the hospitality by the locals and the support team from PYT were great. South Africa is a beautiful place indeed. Thanks to Sunil, Alex, Preetha and the other support members.

I for India, an Indian Event Management Company from UK Organised a trip for its patrons to South Africa in Dec 2019 for Christmas and New Year. The group had 42 members in total (12 families). The planning started as early as Feb 2019 for the holiday in Dec 2019.Before finalising on Pick Your Trail (PYT), we obtained competitive quotes from various vendors and finally finalised it with PYT based on the professional approach they exhibited, attention to detail and of course competitive pricing.Since Feb 2019 to Dec 2019 we had a very pleasant journey with PYT – especially Sanjay in planning the itinery, hotel, sight seeing, food choices and Sanjay was able to cater to all our requirements. We had regular conference calls at various stages to make sure all the things were addressed.PYT helped us in choosing the right partners based on our requirements and made the holiday an excellent experience. We are a large Indian community in UK and would definitely recommend PYT to our wider circles and patrons. We are also planning our Dec 2020 group holiday with them.
