Chilaw

Chilaw is a huge town in Sri Lanka’s Puttalam District of North Western Province. The destination is recognised for its 3 Cs they are coconuts, crabs, and Coreas. This place is known for its Manavari and Munneswaram temples which are a part of the Ramayana tour in Sri Lanka.

  • Manavari: As per the legends it is said that Lord Rama while returning to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana stopped here as he felt that Dosham was following him and if he prayed to Lord Shiva in this very temple Dosham wouldn’t follow him. Later on, he was advised by Lord Shiva to install and pray at four lingams in Manavari, Thiru Koneswaram, Thiruketheeswaram, and Rameshwaram to get rid of the Dosham.
  • Manavari Temple or Ramalinga Shivan: As per the legends, Lord Rama first installed a Shiva lingam in this very place.

Trincomalee

Ramboda

Ramboda is famous for its 109m-high waterfalls along with Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple. This is a small village situated in the Central province of Sri Lanka. It is also said that this Lord Hanuman began his search mission for Goddess Sita from this very hill.

Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya is a city in the central mountain range of Sri Lanka and is also known as the City of Lights. The city is recognised for its Gayathri Pedam, Seetha Amman Temple, & Divurumpola which are all parts of the Ramayana tour in Sri Lanka. This is said to be the place where Goddess Sita was compelled to perform the fire test to prove her purity and devotion towards her husband Lord Rama after she was freed from King Ravana’s captivity.

Colombo

Hasalaka is a tiny village in Sri Lanka which plays a prominent role in Ramayana places in Sri Lanka. It is said that Goddess Sita was held captive here before taking her to Ashoka Vatika. This place is also known as Seetha Kotuwa. Hasalaka was also one of the most beautiful places earlier as it had the breathtaking Queen Mandothri palace here, surrounded by waterfalls.
