We recently went to Bali through Pickyourtrail and it was a smooth experience from start to finish. Right from the first call to discuss the itinerary, everything was handled in a very friendly and professional way. They were patient with our questions and helped us plan quite well. Throughout the trip, they had provided support and would regularly check with you. Their ground team in Bali was equally warm and helpful, which made us feel really comfortable in a new place. From airport pickup to drop at the end of the trip, everything was perfectly organised. The hotels, activities, guides, speed boats all were well planned and coordinated. There was always one or two dedicated points of contact available during the trip, so we never felt stuck or confused at any point. Also, their selection of hotels, boat services and the local travel medium was really nice, safe and comfortable. We had personally picked a snorkelling activity in our itinerary at gili t and it was a beautiful experience thanks to the local guides and the boat that were assigned as a private support by pickyourtrail. It was a really nice memorable experience and I would definitely recommend Pickyourtrail to anyone looking for a well-supported travel partner.

Why Bali Is One of the Best International Trips for Indians

Bali is the only Hindu-majority island in Indonesia, and that cultural resonance runs deep for Indian visitors. The incense smells drift from temples, beautiful rice fields are at Tegallalang, and Gamelan music fills Ubud's lanes, making this island feel both foreign and familiar.

Here's what makes Bali a worthwhile destination for travellers from India:

  • Bali Has Something for Every Traveller: From volcano treks and waterfalls to beach clubs and wellness retreats, Bali offers experiences for honeymooners, families, luxury travellers, and adventure seekers alike.
  • Luxury Feels Affordable in Bali: Private pool villas, spa sessions, seafood dinners, and guided tours are available at reasonable prices compared to many international destinations.
  • Bali Is Easy to Reach From India: Direct and connecting flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Chennai make Bali tour packages from India convenient and budget-friendly.
  • Food in Bali Suits Indian Travellers: Indian restaurants, vegetarian cafés, and Jain-friendly meals are widely available across Seminyak, Ubud, and other tourist areas.
  • Bali is Safe and Tourist-Friendly: Friendly locals, organised tourism infrastructure, and easy transport make Bali one of the most comfortable Southeast Asian destinations for travellers.

Bali Holiday Packages From India by Duration

4 Nights/5 Days Bali Packages

A 4-night, 5-day Bali package is ideal for travellers with limited time or a fixed budget. These itineraries usually cover two key regions, such as Ubud with Seminyak or Nusa Dua, offering a balanced mix of beaches, culture, and relaxation.

5 Nights/6 Days Bali Packages

The 5-night, 6-day Bali package is one of the most preferred choices among Indian travellers. It comfortably includes beach stays, cultural experiences, and a day trip to destinations like Nusa Penida or Nusa Lembongan. This duration suits most Bali holiday packages within a mid-range budget.

7 Nights/8 Days Bali Packages

A 7-night, 8-day Bali package allows for a more relaxed and immersive experience. Travellers can explore attractions such as Mount Batur, Lempuyang Temple, and traditional Balinese cooking classes and still enjoy leisure time without a rushed itinerary.

8 to 10 Days Bali Packages

These packages are ideal for travellers seeking a deeper exploration of Bali. You can include stays in Amed for diving, excursions to Nusa Penida, or extensions to the Gili Islands. This duration is also well-suited for yoga retreats and multi-destination packages combining Bali with Singapore or Kuala Lumpur.

Common mistake: Many first-time visitors try to cover Kuta, Seminyak, Ubud, Amed, Nusa Penida, Canggu, and the Gili Islands in five nights. The result is a trip spent on roads rather than experiences.

Best Places to Visit in Bali for First-Time Travellers

Bali's character changes dramatically between its regions.

Ubud: Culture, Rice Terraces, and Jungle Wellness

Set in Bali’s cooler central highlands, Ubud feels completely different from the island’s beach towns. Mornings start with mist over the Tegallalang Rice Terraces. The rest of the day is for exploring jungle cafés; ancient temples, artisan markets and yoga retreats are also popular. The Sacred Monkey Forest and Goa Gajah are other major attractions.

  • Entry Fees: Tegallalang Rice Terraces: IDR 15,000 or 50,000 (₹80 or ₹270) | Monkey Forest: IDR 80,000 (₹430)
  • Best For: Honeymooners, wellness travellers, slow travel experiences

Tanah Lot: Bali's Most Iconic Sea Temple

Built on a rocky offshore cliff along Bali’s southwest coast, Tanah Lot is the kind of place that looks unreal during sunset. Waves hit the temple base while the sky turns orange over the sea. This is one of Bali’s most photographed views. Most visitors come in the evening to have dinner at clifftop cafés overlooking the coastline.

  • Entry Fee: IDR 60,000 (₹320)
  • Best Time to Visit: Around 5 PM for sunset views

Uluwatu: Clifftop Temples and World-Class Surf

High limestone cliffs and endless ocean views define the landscape around Uluwatu. The region is famous for its dramatic clifftop temple, luxury resorts, hidden beaches, and world-class surf breaks. By evening, crowds gather at Uluwatu Temple for the Kecak Fire Dance, where traditional chanting performances unfold against a glowing sunset backdrop over the Indian Ocean.

  • Kecak Dance Ticket: Around IDR 150,000 (₹800)
  • Best For: Honeymooners, surfers, luxury stays

Seminyak and Kuta: Beaches, Surf, and Nightlife

For travellers looking for energy, nightlife, and beach culture, Seminyak and Kuta remain Bali’s busiest coastal hubs. Kuta attracts beginner surfers and budget travellers with lively streets and affordable stays, while Seminyak offers a more polished atmosphere filled with rooftop restaurants, boutique shopping, stylish cafés, and famous beach clubs facing Bali’s sunset coastline.

  • Surf Lesson Cost: IDR 150,000 to 300,000 (₹800 to ₹1,600)
  • Best For: Groups, nightlife, first-time Bali trips

Nusa Dua: Bali's Luxury Coastal Enclave

Away from Bali’s crowded nightlife districts, Nusa Dua offers a slower and far more refined coastal experience. The area is lined with luxury beachfront resorts, manicured gardens, calm swimming beaches, and premium spa properties overlooking the Indian Ocean. Its peaceful atmosphere and organised surroundings make it one of the island’s most popular destinations for honeymoons and luxury travel packages.

  • Luxury Resort Prices: From IDR 2,500,000 (₹13,500) per night
  • Best For: Honeymoons, luxury holidays, family stays

Canggu: Bali’s Laid-Back Surf and Café Neighbourhood

What began as a quiet surf village has evolved into Bali’s trendiest neighbourhood for younger travellers and digital nomads. Canggu blends black-sand beaches, stylish cafés, coworking spaces, boutique villas, and sunset bars into one relaxed coastal destination. Evenings are usually spent at Echo Beach or Batu Bolong, where surfers and café crowds gather for Bali’s famous sunsets.

  • Average Café Meal Cost: IDR 50,000 to 120,000 (₹270 to ₹650)
  • Best For: Solo travellers, surfers, café hopping

Nusa Penida: Bali’s Wild Island of Cliffs and Hidden Beaches

Towering coastal cliffs and turquoise waters make Nusa Penida feel completely different from mainland Bali. The island is best known for dramatic viewpoints like Kelingking Beach, natural rock formations such as Broken Beach, and crystal-clear snorkelling spots around Crystal Bay. Most visitors explore the island on day trips filled with speedboat rides, scenic coastal drives, and cliffside photography stops.

  • Speedboat Cost: IDR 150,000 to 200,000 (₹800 to ₹1,100) one-way
  • Best For: Adventure trips, photography, island tours

Top Things to Do in Bali

Sunrise Trek on Mount Batur

The Mount Batur trek is one of Bali’s most popular adventure experiences. Starting in the early hours of the morning, the trail leads travellers through volcanic landscapes to a summit overlooking Bali’s caldera lakes and surrounding mountains. The sunrise view from the crater rim is especially spectacular during the dry season when skies are clear. Most treks begin around 3 or 4 AM and finish before breakfast.

  • Trek Cost: IDR 100,000 (₹540) entry | Guides: IDR 300,000 to 500,000 (₹1,600 to ₹2,700)
  • Best Season: April, October
  • Duration: Around 2- 3 hours one way

Tip: Book a registered guide through the local guide association at Toya Bungkah

The Kecak Fire Dance, Uluwatu

Set against the dramatic cliffs of Uluwatu, the Kecak Fire Dance is one of Bali’s most iconic cultural performances. As the sun sets over the ocean, performers gather inside the open-air amphitheatre to present rhythmic chanting and scenes from the Ramayana. The combination of traditional storytelling, fire rituals, and coastal views creates a memorable cultural experience.

  • Ticket Price: IDR 150,000 (₹800)
  • Best Time: Sunset performances
  • Location: Uluwatu Temple

The Bali Swing, Tegallalang

The Bali Swing in Tegallalang is famous for its panoramic views of rice terraces and tropical jungle landscapes. Visitors can choose from gentle scenic swings or higher swings suspended above the valley for a more thrilling experience. Early morning visits are recommended for softer lighting, fewer crowds, and better photographs.

  • Swing Price: IDR 200,000 to 500,000 (₹1,100 to ₹2,700)
  • Best Time: Before 8 AM for photos
  • Location: Tegallalang, Ubud

White-Water Rafting on the Ayung River

The Ayung River offers one of Bali’s best white-water rafting experiences, especially for beginners and families. The rafting route passes waterfalls, rainforest scenery, stone carvings, and narrow river gorges while remaining safe for first-time rafters. Most operators also include hotel transfers, rafting equipment, professional guides, and buffet lunch after the activity.

  • Rafting Cost: IDR 350,000 to 450,000 (₹1,900 to ₹2,400)
  • Duration: Around 2.5 hours
  • Best For: Adventure seekers, groups, families

Scuba Diving at Tulamben and Nusa Penida

Bali is one of Southeast Asia’s leading diving destinations, known for coral reefs, marine biodiversity, and historic shipwreck sites. Tulamben is famous for the USAT Liberty wreck, a beginner-friendly dive site with rich marine life. Nusa Penida’s Crystal Bay attracts divers for manta ray sightings and seasonal mola mola encounters, while Menjangan Island offers calm waters and excellent underwater visibility.

  • Best Diving Season: April, November
  • Mola Mola Season: July, October
  • Top Dive Spots: Tulamben, Nusa Penida, Menjangan Island

Getting Around Bali

  • Grab is the most reliable ride-hailing service. Works across all tourist areas; cashless payment available.
  • A chartered car with driver (IDR 400,000, 600,000 per day) is the best value for full-day sightseeing; drivers double as guides and handle parking.
  • Scooter rental (IDR 50,000, 80,000 per day) is popular but requires an International Driving Permit (IDP) and road confidence. Not recommended for first-time Bali visitors.

Bali Tourist Levy Explained: Fees, Rules & Payment Process

Bali requires all international travellers, including Indian tourists, to pay a mandatory tourist levy before or upon arrival on the island. Introduced in February 2024, the levy supports environmental conservation, cultural preservation, and sustainable tourism projects across Bali. Travellers are advised to pay the levy online through the official Love Bali portal before departure to avoid queues at the airport. Once the payment is completed, a QR code voucher is issued and may be checked during your stay in Bali.

Factors Affecting Bali Trip Cost

  • Departure City: Flights from Delhi and Bangalore usually offer the cheapest fares for Bali.
  • Travel Season: Bali packages during June to August cost 20-30% more than shoulder-season travel.
  • Hotel Category: Luxury villas and beachfront resorts increase package prices significantly compared to standard hotels.
  • Package Inclusions: Private transfers, guided tours, and daily drivers make trips more convenient but more expensive.
  • Group Size: Larger group tours often reduce per-person costs on hotels and transport.
  • Booking Time: Booking Bali packages 3 to 5 months early usually gives better prices and hotel availability.

Bali Food Guide: Best Balinese Dishes to Try

Bali's food scene rewards exploration across every price point, from ₹30 warungs (local eateries) to world-renowned fine-dining restaurants. Here's what to know.

Must-Try Balinese Dishes

  • Babi Guling: Bali’s most iconic dish features a whole suckling pig slow-roasted with turmeric, lemongrass, coriander, and chilli until the skin turns crispy and the meat becomes deeply flavourful and tender.
  • Bebek Betutu: Duck or chicken is coated in a rich Balinese spice paste, wrapped in banana leaves, and slow-cooked for hours, creating soft, aromatic meat packed with earthy flavours.
  • Nasi Campur: A comforting Balinese rice meal served with small portions of shredded chicken, vegetables, tempeh, sambal, peanuts, and other local side dishes that vary across warungs.
  • Sate Lilit: Minced chicken, fish, or pork is blended with coconut and spices, wrapped around lemongrass skewers, and grilled over charcoal for a smoky, fragrant flavour.
  • Urab: Steamed vegetables are mixed with grated coconut, lime juice, shallots, garlic, and chilli to create a light vegetarian dish that suits Indian palates particularly well.
  • Sambal Matah: Made with raw shallots, lemongrass, lime, and bird’s eye chillies, sambal matah adds a fresh, spicy kick to grilled seafood, chicken, and rice dishes.
  • Pisang Goreng: Sweet bananas are coated in batter and deep-fried until golden and crispy, usually served with palm sugar syrup, chocolate sauce, or vanilla ice cream.
  • Kopi Luwak: Known as one of the world’s most expensive coffees, Kopi Luwak is made using beans naturally processed by civets and is often served at plantation tasting experiences across Bali.

Top Bali Restaurants Worth Planning Around

  • Locavore (Ubud): Farm-to-table Balinese fine dining; one of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants. Advance booking essential.
  • Room4Dessert (Ubud): An avant-garde dessert tasting menu by Will Goldfarb; globally ranked.
  • Sarong (Seminyak): Upscale Asian fusion in a heritage colonial space; popular for anniversary dinners.
  • La Lucciola (Seminyak): Italian seafood on the beach; reliable for Indian groups given vegetarian options.
  • Mozaic (Ubud): European fine dining with Balinese ingredients in a garden setting.
  • Warung Babi Guling Ibu Oka (Ubud): The most famous babi guling spot; queues from 11 AM, closes when sold out.

For Indian and Vegetarian Travellers

Ubud and Seminyak both have well-regarded Indian restaurants. like Indian Warung (Ubud) and Kaum Bali. Numerous raw-food cafés in Canggu and Ubud (Alchemy and Peloton Supershop) serve entirely plant-based menus that work well for vegetarian and vegan Indian travellers.

Shopping in Bali: Best Markets, Souvenirs & What to Buy

Shopping in Bali ranges from lively street markets and artisan villages to stylish boutiques and beachside stores. From handmade souvenirs and silver jewellery to coffee, spa products, and tropical fashion, the island offers plenty of unique things to bring back home.

  • Ubud Art Market (Pasar Seni Ubud): The best overall market for traditional crafts, paintings, and woven bags.
  • Sukawati Art Market: Known for having the most competitive prices on wholesale items, textiles, and wood carvings.
  • Seminyak Flea Market: Perfect for trendy bohemian clothing, leather goods, and modern accessories.
  • Kuta Art Market: Great for casual beachwear, flip-flops, and generic Bali souvenirs.

What to buy in Bali Markets

  • Hand-carved wooden masks, figurines and Balinese silver jewellery in Celuk village
  • Hand-painted canvas in Batuan village
  • Gandmade batik fabric
  • Rattan baskets and woven goods
  • Traditional Balinese incense
  • Kopi Luwak beans
  • Traditional cosmetic products (boreh body scrub, coconut oil).

What to be cautious about: "Antiques" sold in tourist markets are almost universally reproductions. Genuine antiques require an export certificate from the Indonesian government's Antiquities Board.

Best Bali Nightlife Areas for Parties, Beach Clubs & Bars

Bali’s nightlife changes dramatically depending on where you stay, with each region offering a completely different after-dark atmosphere.

  • Seminyak: It is an upscale nightlife hub in Bali, famous for stylish beach clubs, sunset cocktails, and beachfront dining experiences at places like Potato Head Beach Club and Ku De Ta.
  • Kuta: Packed with energetic clubs and lively bars, Kuta remains Bali’s busiest party district for travellers looking for affordable nightlife and late-night entertainment.
  • Canggu: Blending beach culture with modern cafés and cocktail bars, Canggu attracts surfers, digital nomads, and younger travellers looking for a relaxed nightlife atmosphere.
  • Ubud: Surrounded by temples and cultural spaces, Ubud offers quieter nightlife experiences through Kecak dances, gamelan music, and traditional Balinese performances.

Note for Indian travellers: Bali’s nightlife areas are generally safe and tourist-friendly, but basic precautions are still important. Keep bags secure, use registered taxis or Grab for late-night travel, and carry photocopies of your passport instead of the original while going out at night.

Practical Tips for Indian Travellers in Bali

  • Money: Carry a multi-currency forex card (Niyo Global, BookMyForex) and some Indonesian Rupiah cash for warungs, markets, and temples. Currency exchange booths in Kuta and Seminyak offer competitive rates; avoid airport exchange counters.
  • Connectivity: Buy a local SIM at the airport (Telkomsel or XL Axiata are the most reliable). A tourist SIM with 10 GB of data typically costs IDR 100,000 to 150,000. Alternatively, an eSIM from providers like Airalo can be activated before you land.
  • Temple etiquette: Sarongs and temple sashes are required at all Hindu temples. Most temples provide these for a small donation at the entrance. Shoulders should be covered.
  • Food safety: Drink only bottled or filtered water. Avoid ice at roadside warungs (fine at established restaurants). Cooked street food is generally safe; raw salads at cheap roadside stalls carry more risk.
  • Power: Indonesia uses Type C plugs (two round pins, 220V). The same as most of India. Indian plugs generally work in Bali without an adaptor, though a universal adaptor is useful for Type F sockets.

Common mistakes Indian travellers make in Bali

  • Not paying the Bali Tourist Levy before arrival (causes airport queue delays)
  • Travelling without an IDP if planning to rent a scooter
  • Booking trips that overlap with Nyepi without understanding the restrictions
  • Exchanging currency at airports instead of in-town exchange booths
  • Trying to cover too many regions in too few days

I recently planned my Bali trip with Pickyourtrail, and overall it was a smooth and hassle-free experience. From bookings, visa assistance, and itineraries to on-ground coordination, everything was handled very well. The team was proactive, responsive, and always available to help, which made the trip very convenient and stress-free. A special thanks to Mithun, Vaishnavi, Mahalakshmi, Keertana, Anit, and Selina for their constant support. The stays were a mixed experience the first villa was visually beautiful but had some service and food-related gaps, and its distance from key locations added to travel time. However, the stay at Merusaka was excellent and truly a 5-star experience. There were also a few minor gaps with itinerary execution on-ground, but these were addressed by the team. Overall, despite a few small hiccups, I had a great experience and would recommend Pickyourtrail for a well-planned vacation.
