Australia is a country of long distances, so eight nights and nine days is a length that rewards a clear plan. An Australia 8 Nights 9 Days Package comfortably covers three cities linked by domestic flights, such as Sydney, Cairns and Melbourne, or Sydney, the Gold Coast and Melbourne. With 10+ years of travel expertise and strong destination knowledge, Pickyourtrail helps you choose the right route, stay and experiences for an 8-night Australia holiday. Whether you want wildlife, coastal drives, theme parks or city time, you can customise your itinerary around your interests, pace and budget.
Australia Tour Package 8 Nights 9 Days
Your Australia 8 Nights 9 Days Package should be built around the cities you care about most. With Pickyourtrail, you choose the route, hotels and experiences, while the key travel details are taken care of. A typical Australia package can include:
- Handpicked hotels in central locations across budget, mid-range and premium options
- Airport transfers in each city for a smooth arrival and departure
- Sightseeing and experiences such as a Sydney Harbour cruise, the Blue Mountains, a Great Barrier Reef cruise and the Great Ocean Road
- Domestic flights between Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns or the Gold Coast, as your route needs
- Customisable itineraries so you can add, remove or change experiences based on your interests
- 24/7 trip assistance for support before and during your holiday
Best Australia 8 Nights 9 Days Itineraries
Eight nights suit three cities on the east coast, or two bases at a slower pace. Here are some of the best Australia 8 Nights 9 Days Package options:
- Sydney, Cairns & Melbourne: The harbour, the Great Barrier Reef and the Great Ocean Road in one trip, with two domestic flights.
- Sydney, Gold Coast & Melbourne: A family favourite that adds theme parks and surf beaches between the two big cities.
- Melbourne & Sydney: Four nights in each, with day trips to Phillip Island, the Great Ocean Road and the Blue Mountains and only one internal flight.
Sample 8 Nights 9 Days Australia Itinerary
An Australia 8 Nights 9 Days Package works well with three nights in Sydney, two in Cairns and three in Melbourne. Here's a sample itinerary to show how the days can come together.
Day 1: Arrival in Sydney
Arrive in Sydney, meet your airport transfer and check into your hotel. Take an easy evening walk around Darling Harbour.
Day 2: Sydney City and Harbour
Tour the Sydney Opera House, walk through The Rocks and the Royal Botanic Garden, and see the Harbour Bridge from the water on a harbour cruise.
Day 3: Blue Mountains Day Trip
Head west to the Blue Mountains to see the Three Sisters from Echo Point and ride the Scenic Railway and Skyway at Scenic World.
Day 4: Sydney to Cairns
Fly about three hours north to Cairns in tropical Queensland. Check in and unwind at the Esplanade Lagoon or the night markets.
Day 5: Great Barrier Reef
Join a full-day reef cruise to an outer reef pontoon or an island such as Green Island, with snorkelling, a glass-bottom boat ride and optional introductory diving.
Day 6: Cairns to Melbourne
Take a morning flight of roughly three and a half hours to Melbourne. Explore the laneways and the Yarra Riverfront in the evening.
Day 7: Great Ocean Road
Spend a long but memorable day on the Great Ocean Road, passing Bells Beach and Apollo Bay before reaching the Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge.
Day 8: Melbourne and Phillip Island
Browse Queen Victoria Market in the morning, then travel to Phillip Island in the afternoon to watch the little penguins come ashore at sunset.
Day 9: Departure
Enjoy breakfast and some last-minute shopping before your transfer to Melbourne Airport for departure. Travelling with children? Swap Cairns for the Gold Coast and spend those two days at the theme parks and Surfers Paradise.
What Can You Cover in an Australia 8 Nights 9 Days Package?
An Australia 8 Nights 9 Days Package is best spent on the east coast. Here's what you can comfortably experience:
- Sydney: The Opera House, Harbour Bridge, The Rocks, Bondi Beach, Taronga Zoo and a Blue Mountains day trip.
- Melbourne: Laneways and cafés, Queen Victoria Market, the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the Great Ocean Road and Phillip Island.
- Cairns: The Great Barrier Reef, Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail, and the Daintree Rainforest with Cape Tribulation.
- Gold Coast: Surfers Paradise, Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World, Dreamworld and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.
Tip: Book an open-jaw ticket that lands in one city and departs from another, such as into Sydney and out of Melbourne. It saves a domestic flight and almost a full day.
Australia 8 Nights 9 Days Package Price
Australia 8 Nights 9 Days Package with Pickyourtrail starts from ₹103,347 per person. Actual pricing shifts based on a few variables:
- Departure city and dates: International airfare to Australia is a large part of the budget and varies with the season and how early you book.
- Number of domestic flights: A three-city route with two internal flights costs more than a two-city trip.
- Hotel tier and location: Harbour-view or city-centre stays in Sydney and Melbourne cost more than hotels a short train ride away.
- Tours and tickets: Reef cruises, theme park passes, the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb and helicopter flights add to the total.
- Season: Christmas, New Year, Australian school holidays and major sporting events push rates up.
What's Included in an Australia 8 Nights 9 Days Package?
An Australia 8 Nights 9 Days Package can cover the essentials for a well-planned multi-city holiday, with exact inclusions depending on your destinations, hotels and chosen itinerary. A typical package may include:
- 8 nights of hotel accommodation across your selected Australian cities
- Airport transfers for arrivals and departures included in your itinerary
- Sightseeing tours and experiences listed in your selected itinerary
- Domestic flights between cities where required by your route
- Daily breakfast, with meals included on selected tours or experiences
- 24/7 on-trip assistance for support before and during your Australia holiday
International flights, Australian visa fees, travel insurance and personal expenses are generally separate unless specifically mentioned in your package. Always review the inclusions and exclusions in your itinerary before booking.
Are 8 Nights Enough for an Australia Trip?
Yes, for the east coast highlights, eight nights are enough for an Australia trip. Eight nights is enough for Sydney, Melbourne and one of Cairns or the Gold Coast at a comfortable pace. It is not enough for the whole country. Perth is around five hours by air from Sydney, and Uluru or Tasmania each need two to three days of their own.
Best Time for an Australia 8 Nights 9 Days Package
Australia's seasons are the reverse of India's, and the tropical north follows a different pattern from the southern cities.
- September to November (spring): Mild and sunny in Sydney and Melbourne, and still dry in Cairns. One of the best all-round windows.
- December to February (summer): Beach weather in Sydney and the Gold Coast and the busiest, most expensive period. Cairns is hot, humid and in its wet season.
- March to May (autumn): Warm days, fewer crowds and comfortable touring in the southern cities.
- June to August (winter): Cool in Melbourne and Sydney, but dry and pleasant in Cairns, making it the best season for the reef.
If your dates are flexible, September to November and March to May suit a three-city route best.
An Australia 8 Nights 9 Days Package for Every Traveller
- Couples: An Australia honeymoon package can combine Sydney's harbour views, a Great Barrier Reef experience in Cairns and romantic evenings in Melbourne.
- Families: An Australia family tour package can include Sydney's attractions, Gold Coast theme parks, wildlife encounters and plenty of family-friendly experiences.
- Adventure Seekers: An Australia adventure tour package can add experiences such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb, reef diving, white-water rafting, surfing and scenic hikes.
- Beach Lovers: An Australia beach tour package can focus on the Gold Coast, Sydney's famous beaches and tropical coastal experiences around Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef.
- Luxury Travellers: An Australia luxury tour package can include premium hotels, private transfers, fine dining, exclusive experiences and upgraded stays across your chosen cities.

Me and my husband had an amazing trip in Australia in September 2026. Pick your trail booked all hotels and activities and even made sure the visa application procedure was smooth. The hotels we stayed at were right in the centre of the city (Sydney and Melbourne) from where we could access all the public transportation and even the pick up spots for all the activities were nearby. One activity provider cancelled the activity at the last moment and PYT team booked the same activity from another activity provider on the spot as per our convenience. I would definitely recommend booking your trips through PYT for comfort and convenience at a reasonable cost.

We recently completed our Australia trip planned through Pickyourtrail. While we enjoyed the destination, there were several areas where better guidance and planning would have made our experience much smoother: 1. Whale-Watching Booking The whale-watching company booked for us operated smaller boats, which are more likely to be affected by weather conditions. Our trip was impacted because of this. It would be better to recommend operators with larger vessels, as they can generally operate despite minor weather changes. 2. Melbourne Accommodation The hotel rooms booked for us in Melbourne were extremely small and uncomfortable for a family. Better hotel options, particularly those suitable for families travelling with children, should have been suggested. 3. Free Attractions in Melbourne Melbourne has several places that can be explored without purchasing tickets, but these were not included in our itinerary. For example, the free City Circle Tram, Route 35, takes tourists around many of Melbournes heritage buildings and major attractions. Information like this would have helped us explore the city better and manage our expenses. 4. Car-Seat Requirements Families travelling with children up to seven years old should be informed in advance about child-seat requirements while using taxis or ride-hailing services in Sydney and Melbourne. We were unaware of this and faced considerable inconvenience. This is essential information and should form part of the pre-travel guidance. 5. Cairns Airport Transfers In Cairns, the arranged taxi service could not provide a vehicle large enough for our family and luggage. For both transfers, we had to take two separate taxis, which was inconvenient and should have been anticipated during the planning stage. 6. Local Transport Guidance Basic information about public transport should be included in every itinerary. For example: - Sydney uses the Opal card for trains, buses, ferries and light rail. - Melbourne uses the myki card, although it is not required within the Free Tram Zone. Such information would help travellers use public transport confidently and avoid unnecessary spending on taxis. Overall, the itinerary covered the main destinations, but it lacked practical, family-specific guidance. Since we were travelling with a young child and an elderly family member, details regarding suitable accommodation, vehicle capacity, car-seat requirements, weather-dependent activities and local transportation should have been planned and communicated more carefully. I hope this feedback is taken constructively and helps Pickyourtrail improve the travel experience for future families. Over all we had a great time! Rishi Sharma and surya gave enough time to us at planning stage and understanding the need of the families. While on trip Gaurav was continuously in touch and did the needful as and when requested. Pick your trail team is very helpful and approachable.

Pickyourtrail was the best thing that happened to us this year.. it was such a pleasure to have them coordinate our tour to Australia..Being frequent travellers, myself and my family had a hussle free vacation.. Even though it was a last minute plan from our end, they made sure everything was ready for us, from beginning till the last day of our tour. Their team did a splendid job indeed.. We loved Srishty a lot.. She made sure we were on board with them from the 1st call, and coordinated throughout.. She was very easy to approach and responded so promptly always.. Srishty is an asset to your team.. Special thanks to Chandramouli and Gaurav who supported us throughout. When we were in Australia, they followed up so closely, we didnt have to fret even once..As for the trip, it was beautifully customised and we were able to enjoy everything.. We loved the leisure time we got, due to their well organised tour plan.. Thanks for the ideal vacation..Looking forward for more such vacations guys..

Had a super awesome trip to Australia, all planned and booked through Pickyourtrail. The 11 days was an unforgettable experience for us, made possible by the great peeps at PYT. The visa process and overall booking experience was hassle free and super easy. Would recommend PYT to anyone wishing to have a great experience. Suggestion for improvement: The app suggested some good tips like the different plug point in Australia that helped us prepare for it. Wouldve been great if the app suggested a low exchange rate credit card for use internationally.

I strongly recommend booking holidays through Pickyourtrail. They planned the trip exactly as per our requirements, were always available for any visa queries and booking appointments in case we faced issues and while we were on vacation the support team was always available for help. They were proactive in offering help and prompt in providing support. Great team indeed! I don't think I will ever look for an alternative to them. Keep up the brilliant work team Pickyourtrail! I have travelled to Maldives, Europe, Australia and Japan with them and each time the experience has been brilliant! Highly recommended!
