Best Bhutan 4 Nights 5 Days Itineraries
Four nights suit two cities in western Bhutan. Here are some of the best Bhutan 4 Nights 5 Days Package options:
- Thimphu & Paro: Two nights in each valley, covering the capital's main sights and a full day for Tiger's Nest.
- Thimphu, Punakha Day Trip & Paro: Adds a long day over Dochula Pass to Punakha Dzong and back, for travellers who do not mind about five to six hours in the car that day.
- Paro with Chele La & Haa: A slower trip based mostly in Paro, with a day drive over Chele La to the Haa Valley and one night in Thimphu.
- Phuentsholing, Thimphu & Paro by Road: For travellers entering by land from Bagdogra or Siliguri, with a night at the border town before the climb to Thimphu.
Sample 4 Nights 5 Days Bhutan Itinerary
A Bhutan 4 Nights 5 Days Package works best with two nights each in Thimphu and Paro. Here's a sample itinerary to show how the days can come together.
Day 1: Arrival in Paro and Drive to Thimphu
Land at Paro International Airport, meet your guide and drive about an hour and a half to Thimphu. Check in, then visit the National Memorial Chorten and stroll along Norzin Lam in the evening.
Day 2: Thimphu Sightseeing
See the giant Buddha Dordenma statue at Kuenselphodrang, the Motithang Takin Preserve, the Folk Heritage Museum and Changangkha Lhakhang. Visit Tashichho Dzong in the late afternoon, when it opens to visitors on working days.
Day 3: Thimphu to Paro
Drive back to Paro, stopping at the Tachog Lhakhang iron bridge on the way. Visit the National Museum in the Ta Dzong watchtower, Rinpung Dzong and the 7th-century Kyichu Lhakhang.
Day 4: Tiger's Nest Hike
Start early for Paro Taktsang, the monastery set on a cliff about 900 metres above the valley floor. The return hike takes four to six hours at a steady pace, with a cafeteria at the halfway point. Rest in the afternoon or try a traditional hot stone bath.
Day 5: Departure
Enjoy breakfast before your transfer to Paro Airport for departure. Want to see Punakha too? Swap the Thimphu sightseeing on Day 2 for a day trip over Dochula Pass to Punakha Dzong.
What Can You Cover in a Bhutan 4 Nights 5 Days Package?
A Bhutan 4 Nights 5 Days Package is best spent in the west of the country. Here's what you can comfortably experience:
- Thimphu: Buddha Dordenma, Tashichho Dzong, the National Memorial Chorten, the Takin Preserve and the craft stalls on Norzin Lam.
- Paro: Tiger's Nest, Rinpung Dzong, the National Museum, Kyichu Lhakhang and the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong.
- Dochula Pass: The 108 chortens and, on a clear day, a long line of Himalayan peaks, about 45 minutes from Thimphu.
- Punakha (as a day trip): Punakha Dzong at the meeting of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers.
- Chele La: One of Bhutan's highest motorable passes, between Paro and Haa, with prayer flags and views towards Mount Jomolhari.
Tip: Keep Tiger's Nest for your last full day. By then you will have spent three days above 2,200 metres, and the climb feels noticeably easier than it would on arrival day.
Bhutan 4 Nights 5 Days Package Price
The Bhutan 4 Nights 5 Days Package price with Pickyourtrail starts from ₹10,404 per person. The final cost depends on how you choose to travel, where you stay and the experiences you add to your itinerary. Key factors that influence the price include:
- Flights or land entry: Flying to Paro is generally more expensive, while entering Bhutan by road through Phuentsholing can be a more budget-friendly option, although it takes longer.
- Hotel category: Your choice of 3-star hotels, boutique stays or luxury resorts in Thimphu and Paro can significantly change the overall package cost.
- Sustainable Development Fee: Bhutan's Sustainable Development Fee is charged per person, per night and can affect the total cost of your holiday.
- Group size: Travelling with family or friends can reduce the per-person cost of private vehicles and guides.
- Travel season: Prices can vary throughout the year, with popular spring and autumn months and festival periods generally seeing higher demand.
- Experiences and add-ons: Activities such as hot stone baths, traditional farmhouse dinners and other local experiences can increase the overall package price.
For an accurate estimate, customise your Bhutan 4 Nights 5 Days Package based on your travel dates, preferred stay and experiences.
What's Included in a Bhutan 4 Nights 5 Days Package?
A Bhutan 4 Nights 5 Days Package covers the essentials you need for a comfortable short holiday, with exact inclusions varying by itinerary, hotel and travel preferences. A typical package may include:
- 4 nights of hotel accommodation in destinations such as Thimphu and Paro
- Airport transfers for arrival and departure
- Private vehicle with driver for sightseeing and intercity travel
- Licensed English-speaking guide for guided sightseeing and cultural experiences
- Daily breakfast, with dinner included in selected packages
- Entry permit assistance for Indian travellers
- 24/7 on-trip assistance for support throughout your holiday
Flights to Paro, the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF), monument or attraction entry fees, travel insurance and personal expenses may be charged separately unless specifically included in your package. Always review the inclusions and exclusions in your itinerary before booking.
Are 4 Nights Enough for a Bhutan Trip?
Yes, for Thimphu and Paro. Four nights are enough to see both valleys properly and hike to Tiger's Nest without feeling rushed. Punakha is possible only as a long day trip, and central Bhutan needs a longer holiday.
Best Time for a Bhutan 4 Nights 5 Days Package
Bhutan can be visited all year, but the views and the Tiger's Nest trail are at their best in the dry months.
- March to May: Mild days, rhododendrons in bloom on the passes and the Paro Tshechu festival in spring.
- June to August: Monsoon months with rain, cloud and occasional flight delays, but green valleys and fewer visitors.
- September to November: Clear skies, sharp mountain views and the Thimphu Tshechu, which makes this the busiest season.
- December to February: Cold mornings and nights, sunny days and quiet monasteries. Snow sometimes dusts Dochula and Chele La.
If your dates are flexible, October to November and March to April are reliable choices for a short Thimphu and Paro trip.
A Bhutan 4 Nights 5 Days Package for Every Traveller
- Culture and Monastery Lovers: Two valleys give you fortress-monasteries, a 7th-century temple and a guide who can explain what you are seeing.
- Couples: A boutique stay in Paro, a hot stone bath and an unhurried Tiger's Nest morning make an easy short honeymoon or anniversary trip.
- Families: Short drives, the Takin Preserve and an archery ground visit keep children interested. A pony can carry them part of the way up to Tiger's Nest.
- First-Time International Travellers: No visa to arrange, familiar food and Indian rupees in wide use make Bhutan a gentle first trip abroad.
- Long-Weekend Travellers: With flights from cities such as Delhi and Kolkata, five days fit neatly around a weekend and two or three days of leave.

We had a lovely time in Bhutan and all thanks to our guide Keshap and driver Yeshay. Both of them were really attentive and helpful during our 7N/8D trip. During the trip, one of my son fell sick and needed emergency care on a Sunday. Keshap, Yeshay and the entire PYT team were supportive and ensured immediate attention was received. Glad to have chosen PYT and so thankful for our guide and driver for showing us the beauty of Bhutan. Keshap is extremely knowledgeable about the history of his country and answered all our questions patiently. He helped us in suggesting not only restaurants but also ensuring the restaurants provided kid-friendly food. Thanks for the amazing trip experiencing the true culture of Bhutan!!

We travelled to Bhutan with Pick Your Trail last week, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! From the very beginning, Senthil was incredibly helpful in putting together our itinerary. He was considerate of all our specific requests and made sure we could include the experiences we were looking forward to. He was always available to take our calls and communicated promptly throughout the planning process. During the trip, Sruthi made sure to check in with us every single day to ensure everything was going smoothly and that we werent facing any issues. This consistent support gave us great peace of mind. One of the best parts of our experience was having a female guide, Kuenley, who made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. She was incredibly thoughtful about our health, timings, preferences, and concerns. The warmth with which she welcomed us into a new country genuinely made us feel at home. Beyond being an amazing guide, she made the entire journey more meaningful with her kindness and care. A huge thank you to Senthil, Sruthi, Kuenley, and everyone at Pick Your Trail who contributed to making this trip so special. Its the people behind a trip who often make the biggest difference, and you all made our Bhutan experience truly memorable. Would definitely recommend Pick Your Trail to anyone planning their next adventure!
