Best Bhutan 5 Nights 6 Days Itineraries
Five nights suit three valleys in western Bhutan. Here are some of the best Bhutan 5 Nights 6 Days Package options:
- Thimphu, Punakha & Paro: The classic loop with two nights in Thimphu, one in Punakha and two in Paro.
- Thimphu & Paro with a Haa Day Trip: Skips Punakha for a quieter trip, with three nights in Paro and a drive over Chele La to the Haa Valley.
- Paro, Punakha & Thimphu in Reverse: Starts with Paro's flat valley sights, then Punakha and Thimphu, and returns to Paro only for Tiger's Nest. It suits those who want the hike at the very end.
- Phuentsholing, Thimphu, Punakha & Paro: A land-entry version from Bagdogra or Siliguri, with one night at the border and a faster pace in the valleys.
Sample 5 Nights 6 Days Bhutan Itinerary
A Bhutan 5 Nights 6 Days Package works best as a loop through three valleys. Here's a sample Thimphu, Punakha and Paro itinerary to show how the days can come together.
Day 1: Arrival in Paro and Drive to Thimphu
Arrive at Paro, meet your guide and follow the Pa Chhu and Wang Chhu rivers to Thimphu. In the evening, visit Tashichho Dzong or walk through the town centre, where traffic is still directed by hand.
Day 2: Thimphu
Visit Buddha Dordenma, the National Memorial Chorten and the Motithang Takin Preserve. In the afternoon, see the Royal Textile Academy or the Centenary Farmers' Market if you are in town over the weekend.
Day 3: Thimphu to Punakha via Dochula
Drive up to Dochula Pass at about 3,100 metres for the 108 chortens and Himalayan views, then descend into the warm Punakha valley. Walk through rice fields to Chimi Lhakhang and visit Punakha Dzong in the afternoon light.
Day 4: Punakha to Paro
Cross the long suspension bridge behind the dzong in the morning, then drive back over Dochula to Paro, a journey of about four hours. Visit Rinpung Dzong and walk down to the covered wooden bridge below it.
Day 5: Tiger's Nest and Kyichu Lhakhang
Hike to Paro Taktsang in the morning, allowing four to six hours for the return trip. Later, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in the country, and browse Paro's main street for handicrafts.
Day 6: Departure
Enjoy breakfast before your transfer to Paro airport for departure. Prefer fewer hotel changes? Drop Punakha and spend three nights in Paro with a day trip over Chele La to Haa.
What Can You Cover in a Bhutan 5 Nights 6 Days Package?
A Bhutan 5 Nights 6 Days Package covers the three best-known valleys of western Bhutan. Here's what you can comfortably experience:
- Thimphu: Buddha Dordenma, Tashichho Dzong, the Takin Preserve, the Royal Textile Academy and the weekend market.
- Dochula Pass: 108 memorial chortens, prayer flags and a wide Himalayan panorama in clear weather.
- Punakha: Punakha Dzong, the suspension bridge over the Pho Chhu and the village walk to Chimi Lhakhang.
- Paro: Tiger's Nest, Rinpung Dzong, the National Museum and Kyichu Lhakhang.
- Haa (as an alternative): Chele La pass and a quiet valley of farmhouses and two old temples, Lhakhang Karpo and Lhakhang Nagpo.
Tip: Travelling beyond Thimphu and Paro needs a route permit in addition to the entry permit, and the immigration office in Thimphu works on weekdays. Share your documents early so the paperwork is ready before you reach Punakha.
Bhutan 5 Nights 6 Days Package Price
Bhutan 5 Nights 6 Days Package with Pickyourtrail starts from ₹8,046 per person. Actual pricing shifts based on a few variables:
- Departure city and dates: Only a couple of airlines fly into Paro, so fares rise quickly in peak months and reward early booking.
- Hotel tier: Punakha's riverside resorts and Paro's luxury lodges cost far more than standard 3-star hotels, making this the biggest single lever on total cost.
- Sustainable Development Fee: This is charged per person, per night, so a five-night trip pays for five nights. Confirm whether it is part of your quote.
- Group size: A couple pays more per head for the car and guide than a family or group of friends sharing them.
- Season: Spring and autumn carry peak rates, while winter is good value and Punakha stays pleasantly mild.
- Experiences: Rafting on the Mo Chhu, a farmhouse lunch, or a hot stone bath add to the total.
What's Included in a Bhutan 5 Nights 6 Days Package?
A Bhutan 5 Nights 6 Days Package covers the essentials for a comfortable journey through Thimphu, Punakha and Paro, with exact inclusions varying by your chosen itinerary and hotel category. A typical package may include:
- 5 nights of hotel accommodation across Thimphu, Punakha and Paro
- Airport transfers for arrival and departure at Paro International Airport
- Private vehicle with driver for sightseeing and travel throughout your itinerary
- Licensed English-speaking guide for guided sightseeing and cultural experiences
- Daily breakfast, with dinner included in selected packages
- Entry and route permit assistance for the destinations included in your itinerary
- 24/7 on-trip assistance for support throughout your Bhutan holiday
Flights to Paro, the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF), monument or attraction entry fees, travel insurance and personal expenses may be charged separately unless specifically mentioned in your package. Always check the inclusions and exclusions in your itinerary before booking.
Are 5 Nights Enough for a Bhutan Trip?
Yes. Five nights is the length most first-time visitors choose, and it covers Thimphu, Punakha and Paro at a comfortable pace. The Phobjikha Valley and central Bhutan are better kept for six nights or more.
Best Time for a Bhutan 5 Nights 6 Days Package
The best time to visit Bhutan depends on whether you want mountain views, festivals or lower prices.
- March to May: Spring flowers on Dochula, jacaranda trees in bloom around Punakha Dzong and comfortable hiking weather.
- June to August: The monsoon brings afternoon rain and cloud over the passes. Punakha, at around 1,200 metres, is hot and humid.
- September to November: The clearest views of the year from Dochula, golden rice terraces in Punakha and Paro, and the main festival season.
- December to February: Crisp, sunny days and cold nights in Thimphu and Paro, with Punakha noticeably warmer. A good value season.
If your dates are flexible, October to early December and March to April are reliable choices for the three-valley loop.
A Bhutan 5 Nights 6 Days Package for Every Traveller
- Culture and Monastery Lovers: Three major dzongs in six days, plus temples that are still in daily use rather than preserved as museums.
- Couples: A night by the river in Punakha and a slow final day in Paro give the trip a relaxed, romantic rhythm.
- Families: The suspension bridge, the takins and short walks through rice fields work well for children, and the drives are broken up with stops.
- Photographers: Dochula at sunrise, Punakha Dzong from the river and the first full view of Tiger's Nest from the trail are the pictures most visitors come home with.
- Soft Adventure Travellers: Gentle rafting on the Mo Chhu and the Tiger's Nest climb add activity without needing trekking experience.

We had a lovely time in Bhutan and all thanks to our guide Keshap and driver Yeshay. Both of them were really attentive and helpful during our 7N/8D trip. During the trip, one of my son fell sick and needed emergency care on a Sunday. Keshap, Yeshay and the entire PYT team were supportive and ensured immediate attention was received. Glad to have chosen PYT and so thankful for our guide and driver for showing us the beauty of Bhutan. Keshap is extremely knowledgeable about the history of his country and answered all our questions patiently. He helped us in suggesting not only restaurants but also ensuring the restaurants provided kid-friendly food. Thanks for the amazing trip experiencing the true culture of Bhutan!!

We travelled to Bhutan with Pick Your Trail last week, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! From the very beginning, Senthil was incredibly helpful in putting together our itinerary. He was considerate of all our specific requests and made sure we could include the experiences we were looking forward to. He was always available to take our calls and communicated promptly throughout the planning process. During the trip, Sruthi made sure to check in with us every single day to ensure everything was going smoothly and that we werent facing any issues. This consistent support gave us great peace of mind. One of the best parts of our experience was having a female guide, Kuenley, who made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. She was incredibly thoughtful about our health, timings, preferences, and concerns. The warmth with which she welcomed us into a new country genuinely made us feel at home. Beyond being an amazing guide, she made the entire journey more meaningful with her kindness and care. A huge thank you to Senthil, Sruthi, Kuenley, and everyone at Pick Your Trail who contributed to making this trip so special. Its the people behind a trip who often make the biggest difference, and you all made our Bhutan experience truly memorable. Would definitely recommend Pick Your Trail to anyone planning their next adventure!
