Asiatique was built on the site of an old East Asiatic Company trading wharf, a working port that handled cargo from the early 20th century. The warehouses were restored and converted into a riverside night market across roughly 10,000 square metres. Today, it’s one of the most popular evening attractions in Bangkok for families, couples, and first-time visitors.

There are currently over 1,500 shops and 40+ restaurants across several themed zones. The Chao Phraya River Bangkok experience runs along the entire western edge, giving the complex its signature riverside atmosphere.

Spending a day in Jurassic World

One of Bangkok’s largest immersive dinosaur-themed attractions,  occupies a major portion of Asiatique. An immersive dinosaur-themed experience running 60–90 minutes, conducted in both English and Thai. Families with children will find this one of the more entertaining things to do in Bangkok.

Enjoying the Calypso Cabaret

The Calypso Cabaret is one of Bangkok’s longest-running cabaret performances, featuring elaborate costumes and theatrical dance performances. Jurassic World

Transformed Asiatique from primarily a shopping-dining night market into a half-theme park. This makes it significantly more relevant for families with children but also means school holiday crowds are heavier than they were pre-2025.

Skyflyers Wings of Garudapterus 

It is Asiatique's most physically dramatic attraction. The 135-metre ride creates views over both the riverside complex and the broader Bangkok skyline that the Ferris wheel can't match for height.

THAINOSAUR Museum

Connected to the Jurassic World attraction, this is a more educational dinosaur exhibition with a specifically Thai angle. Several significant prehistoric species were discovered in Thailand, and the museum covers that local palaeontological history. Less flashy than Jurassic World but more substantive.

Shopping at Asiatique feels very different from chaotic bargain markets in Bangkok. The experience here is cleaner, more organised, and far more relaxed, making it ideal for travellers who want evening shopping without the stress of heavy crowds or endless bargaining. While prices are slightly higher than local street markets, the product quality and presentation are generally better.

• Thai silk accessories (scarves, pouches) — better quality than airport shops at similar prices
• Handmade leather goods — wallets, bags, belts from artisan stalls in Factory Town
• Thai skincare and soap products — Thann and other Thai brands represented
• Handmade jewellery — silver and semi-precious stones, reasonably priced
• Thai ceramics and home goods — well-priced, good quality, but heavy to carry

• Branded clothing — nothing exclusive; same items available elsewhere cheaper
• Most souvenir mass-production items — magnets, keychains, standard tourist inventory

Food is one of the biggest reasons people stay longer at Asiatique than planned. The riverside setting, open-air seating, live music, dessert cafés, seafood restaurants, and street food stalls together make it feel more like an evening food district than just a night market. While prices are slightly higher than local markets, the atmosphere and riverfront dining experience make up for it. 

Thai street food zone (near Baan Tai Town) 

The casual street food section near the warehouse area is the best place for affordable meals. You’ll find pad Thai, mango sticky rice, grilled skewers, coconut ice cream, seafood platters, papaya salad, fried rice, and Thai milk tea stalls throughout the complex. Vegetarian travellers can usually request dishes without meat or seafood by saying “jay” (เจ), the Thai word commonly used for vegetarian food.
