Things to know before you go

  • Dress conservatively. It is a traditional area of Dubai, so it's important to dress appropriately. This means covering your shoulders and knees and avoiding anything too revealing.
  • As with any religious or cultural site, it's important to be respectful while you are visiting.
  • The best time to sandboard is early in the morning or late in the evening when the sun is not as strong.
  • The sun can be brutal, so be sure to wear sunscreen and cover up as much as possible. A hat and sunglasses will help keep the sand out of your eyes, too.
  • Be aware of your surroundings at all times. Keep an eye on your belongings and don't leave them unattended.
  • Check the weather conditions before you go to avoid the heat, and try to go during the week to avoid the weekend crowds.
