Main Objective of Kuta Sea Turtle Conservation Hub Bali

The conservation center was established to conserve little turtle eggs, which are frequently damaged due to human activities, and to provide a safe sanctuary for hatchlings until they are ready to return to the sea.

Things to do in Kuta Sea Turtle Conservation Center Bali

The Kuta Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Program was established with the goal of protecting tiny eggs and consequently increasing sea turtle hatching rates. Began over 17 years ago. It is one of the most popular sites to visit in Kuta. Mr. Agung and Wayan began with one sea turtle nest, which was safeguarded with bamboo planted around it. This would be one of the best things to do in Bali for tourists.

This conservation center is for endangered turtle species. They also tend to turtles who may be suffering from medical issues. Additionally, the center is in charge of keeping track of turtle counts, monitoring births and deaths, and providing regular health examinations. The center looks after them until they are healthy enough to return to their natural home. This location collaborates with expert veterinarians, experienced divers, and even the police, who work tirelessly day and night to keep these creatures safe.

There are Turtle Rangers who monitor the beach at night to provide a safe haven for mother sea turtles to deliver eggs and return to the ocean. They transfer the eggs to the Kuta hatchery and wait 45-60 days for the eggs to grow and hatch. After the eggs hatch, the conservationists will return them to their natural habitat. This is one of the best Bali activities for tourists, too.

Every day from February to October, when the nesting season is in full swing, the volunteers search 14 kilometers of shoreline between Kuta and Canggu in search of 500 to 3000 eggs. More than 100,000 eggs were saved by the team in 2017, and 90% of those eggs hatched and were released back into the ocean. Yet, the paper states that only approximately 0.1% of young turtles are able to live to adulthood. It represents one in a million.
