Why Visit Maya Bay

An excellent reason to visit Maya Bay is the recent reopening of the area following a brief closure for environmental restoration. Best Time to Visit Maya Bay

The best time to visit Maya Bay is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. During this time, the weather is typically sunny, dry, with little rain and low humidity. Especially in December and January, the island can become quite crowded during this busy travel season. Traveling to the island during the wet season can be difficult due to unpredictable weather, which can also occasionally produce storms and heavy rain. It's also crucial to be aware of the possibility of choppy seas during the rainy season, which may obstruct ferry and boat transfers to and from the island. About Maya Bay

Maya bay

This tiny stretch of Maya Bay's beach, which is only 15 meters wide and 250 meters long, has grown to be one of the most popular places in Phuket.

Natural Beauty and Scenic Landscape

The beach is a half-moon-shaped expanse of snow-white sand, bordered by lazily swaying trees that offer welcome shade on hot days. The sand is inviting and soft, and the water is cool and refreshing, making it the perfect location for sunbathing. One of the best places to visit in Phuket for couples, families, and friends, Maya Bay will leave you speechless with its breathtaking views and unmatched beauty. Its bay is a picture-perfect tropical paradise that looks like it was taken straight out of a postcard, surrounded by towering limestone cliffs covered in lush vegetation. The coral reef that guards the bay has contributed to keeping the waters calm and clear, giving tourists fantastic visibility for snorkelling and diving.

Activities and Water Sports

Swimming, snorkelling, and sunbathing are just a few water sports and activities visitors can enjoy in and around Maya Bay. Due to the abundance of marine life in the warm waters, this is one of the best snorkelling spots in Phuket and a well-liked destination for snorkelers and divers. Many different fish species, such as clownfish, angelfish, parrotfish, and larger marine creatures like sea turtles, dolphins, and whale sharks, can be found in the coral reefs.

Closure and Opening

Due to environmental concerns and to prevent over-tourism, the beach was closed in 2018. As a result, the ship was unable to dock on the island's coast, making access to the beach forbidden. But in 2022, the beach reopened to the public with a few restrictions for visitors. Some of them include

  • No boats are permitted to enter the bay directly; instead, they must park at the Loh Samah Bay pier at the back of the bay, and visitors must board to get to the bay.
  • The number of boats that can dock at once is limited to 8, and visitors can only stay for an hour.
  • After its reopening, Maya Bay accepts only 2000 visitors each day.
  • Currently, swimming in  Maya Bay is strictly prohibited.

It is well-known for its stunning beaches, exciting nightlife, and a variety of water sports, such as boat tours, diving, and snorkelling.
