History

The first plans for the Sydney tower were unveiled in March 1968, designed by Architect Donald Crone. The construction of the tower began in 1975 and the first public access was provided in August 1981. The tower stands at a whopping 309 metres above mean sea level.

Getting there

It is located on market street between Pitt and Castlereagh streets which is at a walking distance from Sydney central business district. Multiple bus stops can be found around the landmark. Another best way to reach the place would be to use your own self-drive car if you are planning on taking a road trip to Australia. A lot of Hop on Hop off busses also stop at this landmark.

Operation hours

The Sydney Tower is open on all days between 10 am to 8 pm, with the last entry an hour before the scheduled closing time. One 3 specific days I.e, 12 November, 25th December and 31st December the tower closes at 6 pm itself.

Best time to Visit

The best time to visit Australia itself would be during the warmers days in December to February. It is the peak season time and attracts visitors from all around the globe. If thin crowds and off-peak rates are the goal of your trip, then off-peak season between February and march or October and November would be the ideal time to plan the trip. The minimum age of admission into the tower would be 8 years and minimum height should be around 3 feet. Cameras would be allowed in the skywalk, safety lockers are available for use. However one can purchase professional photos at an additional cost. Guests need to wear pants or shorts, no dresses or skirts would be allowed onto the skywalk.

The golden turret at the top of the tower has a full size of 960 passengers. Three high-speed double-deck lifts, each with a range of 8 to 10 passengers, allow transport to the observation deck. Depending on wind conditions the lifts fly at complete, half, or quarter level. The lifts reach the Ground level in approximately 45 seconds at the top speed.
