Mullayanagiri Peak

As the highest point in Karnataka, Mullayanagiri is a must-see location. Standing tall at over 6300 ft, the trek to the top of the peak is an exciting activity. The 4 km trek is rather steep and dangerous, but that is what makes it interesting. Also, there is a Lord Shiva temple on the hilltop which attracts a lot of devotees. The astounding view of the Western Ghats are the reward and for this, the trek is totally worth it. Furthermore, the lush greenery and cold breeze make it a dream destination.

The Coffee Plantations

Chikmagalur is synonymous with coffee. This town has many beautiful coffee plantations. Visit the coffee plantations to hear fascinating stories of how coffee became an important product here. Baba Budangiri

This is another marvellous peak in the Western Ghats about 15 km north of Chikmagalur. The peak is named after Baba Budan, who was a Sufi saint. He was the first person to bring coffee to India. Also, this is another awesome yet adventurous trekking spot, which is a steep climb. Because of the shrine of Baba Budan, a large number of pilgrims also visit the peak.

Jhari Waterfalls

As one of the most famous waterfalls in and around Chikmagalur, this one also attracts a large number of visitors. Because of its milky colour, the waterfall is also known as Buttermilk Falls. This cold and clear mountain spring is an excellent place to relax and get close to nature. Moreover, there is a compact forest around it, and at the bottom, you can find a pool to swim and enjoy.

Hirekolale Lake

Located about 10 km from Chikmagalur town, this is a nature’s paradise. With the towering mountains in the background, the picturesque lake is the perfect spot to spend an evening. The drive up to the lake itself is a scenic journey and make sure you got your cameras as well for the best shot.

Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary

Though it is a bit far from Chikmagalur, there are private safaris to the sanctuary which is an amazing experience. You can spot thick forests with towering trees and greenery which is home to some exotic wildlife. You get to spot tigers, deer and other wildlife here, also the Bhadra river flows majestically through here. You can even find crocodiles on the river banks.
