Museum hopping

Another great way to beat the heat and have a good time is to be in Madrid’s museums. The museums in Madrid have great stories to tell of different eras. Going Swimming on Rooftop pools

Hang out at Lago, to escape the heat in Madrid’s popular outdoor pools. Madrid also has some hotels with a pool on the rooftop, this not only gives nice views of the city and its streets but also they can sunbathe, or have a cocktail and a splash in the water later on. Over at Lagos, save a good spot close to the waters and don’t forget to have a good sunscreen.

Take a stroll on Mercado San Miguel

The Mercado San Miguel is Europe’s largest municipal market with over 200 stalls. The famous tapas here offers an excellent selection of the local cuisine. Also, enjoy a glass of beer or vermouth here and explore the streets and its local life, like a real Madrileno.

Spend a day at the Aquopolis

Head on over to the Aquopolis Vilanueva de la Canada, for a whole day of family fun. This is perfect for kids and adults alike to get away from the busy and noisy streets of the city and have a fun-filled day at one of the best amusement parks in Madrid. Located about half an hour away by train, this is ideal blow off steam in the summer and enjoy the water rides of the amusement park.

Day trip to Sierra de Guadarrama

Due to the proximity of the mountain range, the Sierra de Guadarrama is an excellent day trip from Madrid. There are adventurous hiking trails, chance to spot wildlife and relax in the natural pools. This is a very popular full-day activity, especially in the summertime. There is an excellent view of the mountains with green meadows at the bottom.
