London Piccadilly Circus

In the famous city of Westminster, the Piccadilly circus of London was a street juncture and an open space for public use of London’s west perimeter. Opened in 1819, this was built to join Piccadilly with Regent-street. Piccadilly Circus now creates a better connection between Coventry, Shaftesbury Avenue, Coventry Streets and the Haymarket. Many important shopping and entertainment outlets surround this circus in the west. Along with the Shaftesbury memorial fountain and statue, it attained fame for its neon signs and video broadcasting mounted on a nook building on the Northern side of the circle.

There are large display boards to advertise various products. This along with the neon lights illuminates the corners of the most buildings here. Many well-known companies have exhibited their advertisements in this place. Companies which includes Hyundai Motors, Coca-cola,  Vodafone, Kodak,  Samsung, McDonald’s, Burberry and others have advertised here.

Highlights of Piccadilly Circus

The Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain, located at the centre of the amazing allurement was built in the year to celebrate the work of the famous philanthropist, Lord Shaftesbury. The statue of the Angel of Christian Charity can be observed at the top of the fountain. Eros is the new name for Piccadilly Circus statue.

The Ripley’s Believe It Or Not museum can be located along Shaftesbury Avenue where a huge group of tourists converge every year.

How to reach The Piccadilly Circus of London: 

Piccadilly Circus is well connected from all locations in London.

From the Heathrow airport: You need to get hold of a train named Piccadilly to get down at Piccadilly Station. This train ride takes around 50 minutes on an average.

From Gatwick: While approaching from the airport, board a train from the Gatwick station for the Victoria Underground station. Next hop is to board the underground metro from the Victoria and get down at Green Park Underground Station. And finally to reach the Piccadilly Circus, walk about 10 minutes after getting down at the Green Park underground station.

From Manchester Airport: Take a train to Wilmslow after getting down at Manchester airport. This is a short journey and will not take more than 10 minutes. Board another train from Wilmslow to reach Euston Underground station. Then board a metro named Northern. This one takes you to Leicester Square Underground. It’s just a 5 minutes walk from Leicester Square Underground to reach your destination.

The Piccadilly Circus of London Entry Fees 

Often know as the “Times Square of London” Piccadilly Circus is free of charge for anyone to visit as its a public space.
