1. Torre de Belém
The Tower of Belém was constructed under the orders of Dom Manuel on the northern bank of Tagus. The tower was used to guard the river entrance of the Lisbon harbour. Torre de Belém’s inner walls have stonework, ropes, paintings of Lisbon’s patron saint St Vincent, rhinoceros and Catholic Crosses of Christ. In the year 1983, it was given the status as “Cultural Heritage of Humanity” by the UNESCO.

2. Calouste Gulbenkian Museum
One of Europe’s best art museums – Calouste Gulbenkian Museum – where the history dates back to the 20th century, houses Greco-Roman jewellery, jewellery by René Lalique, Egyptian scarabs, Islamic and Oriental artworks, jade stones and paintings from China and Japan, glassware from India, Turkey and many more. It also features the French silverware and Italian Renaissance work. Make some time to enjoy the artwork by Manet, Rembrandt, Gainsborough and Corot. 3. Ride Tram 28
Lisbon is known for its tram lines and the Ride Tram 28 is the most famous in the city. The tram starts from the Graca hills and travels via the Escolas Gerais alley and halts at the Alfama district. During your transit, make sure to check out the domes of Estrela Basilica and other majestic castles and palaces which boasts of rich architecture.
4. Alfama District
The Alfama District in Lisbon is regarded as one of the most ancient wonders of the city and dates back to the timeline when the Moors of Africa were predominantly settled in the country. Stretching between São Jorge Castle and the Tejo river, the name Alfama means “hot fountains” or “baths”. 5. Time Out Market Lisboa
What if we tell you there’s a place where you can have your burgers, pizzas and sandwiches after trying them out? No, we aren’t kidding! The Time Out Market in Lisbon is where you can choose your items, taste them and test them until you are completely satisfied with what is being offered. The items sold here range from Alentejo ham, Azeitão sheep’s cheese, Alentejo ham to custard tarts, sardines and many more. Some of the top chefs even have their own restaurants set up in this market. The River Rouge is a famous venue in Time Out Market where delicious steaks are served with good music.

6. Sinatra
The ever LIT town of Sinatra is 30 minutes away from Lisbon if you are to hire a car or take a taxi cab. A royal sanctuary with its lush green terrains, villas and palaces – Sinatra is one of the top places to be visited in Lisbon. We’d suggest day trips as you can get the best of this town in daylight. The Mountains of the Moon is where you can spot the churches, mansions and palaces of Portuguese kings and queens. 7. LX factory
We all know shopping is one of the top things to do in any kind of vacation. But getting to shop grand while you’re eating or drinking or dancing is something we don’t get to experience very often. Treat yourself at the LX factory complex in Alcântara – where you have multiple mini shops for souvenirs, essential commodities at slashed rates, eateries, photo studios and buzzing dance floors as well! Another fun fact about this factory is that the buildings housed inside the factory once belonged to a famous fabric company named, ‘Companhia de Fiação e Tecidos Lisbonense’.

Tiles and Portugal go hand in hand. National Tile Museum in Lisbon is where you can explore the history of tiles. The blue-hued azulejos deserves your attention here and the ceramic work featured inside this museum come in different sizes, designs and surfaces. Some of the topnotch artwork housed in this museum are The Brazilian wood display cabinet, Chapel of Saint Anthony and paintings by André Gonçalves.
