Conrad Maldives Rangali Island has just announced the details of the most ambitious project after raising an investment of $15 million.
Submerged 5 metres (16.4 feet) below the sea level, the underwater villa is a two-level structure with a spiral staircase connecting them.
First level – Twin-sized bedroom, private security quarters, butler’s quarters, living room, dining room, bathroom, powder room
Second level (underwater suite) – King-sized bedroom, living area, bathroom

The underwater suite is protected by a curved acrylic dome which provides 180-degree views of the Indian Ocean. And there’s the bathtub where you can soak in the views of the ocean as well. All day long. No questions asked. Further, there are relaxation decks on the eastern and the western side of the villa where you can catch sunrise and sunset.

Conrad Maldives Rangali Island introduced the concept of an Instagram butler last year and it garnered a huge amount of appreciation. The underwater villa from Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is named Muraka, meaning coral in the local language Dhivehi and it is set to open in November, next year. It can accommodate a maximum of 9 individuals.
“With the development of the world’s first undersea residence, Conrad Maldives Rangali Island will offer visitors the opportunity to experience the Maldives like never before,” Martin Rinck, Head of luxury & lifestyle brands, Hilton said.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first underwater venture of the hotel, 13 years back they came with the undersea restaurant of Ithaa, which is set 16 feet below the sea level. So, when you are in Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, do check out Ithaa as well.
Stay at the underwater suite is expected to be priced at a whopping $50,000 for a night.
