To restore the noble wealth that came from the deep oceans and to spread awareness of the importance of maintaining the value of these rare materials, Emirates NBD, a leading bank in the United Arab Emirates, proposed the idea of a pearl museum.
The museum's history begins in the 1970s, and a major contribution was made by a prominent pearl collector, Sultan Al Owais. Presently, the museum houses a variety of pearls, especially Sultan’s pearl collections, which are now retained among the museum's exhibits.
The museum depicts the lives of famous divers and sailors and the tools they used during the discovery of pearls.
There are also several forms of pearl jewellery in the museum, with hundreds of immaculate pearls arranged against a background of crimson velvet.
Start your tour with a brief 12-minute documentary on the background of diving and pearls, which will be shown before the tour starts.
The tour guide will lead you through the museum's sections after you have looked into its history and its most memorable moments.
Once you have finished the last segment, a spectacular view of Dubai Creek will appear before your eyes.
