Johan Rudolf Bonnet, a late Dutch artist who fell in love with Bali and resided in Ubud to create a wonderful body of work alongside other notable figures like Walter Spies and Bali's own Lempad, founded the Pita Maha artistic movement that gave rise to the museum.
