  • Tourists will be screened on arrival
  • Medical Insurance
  • Turkish Airlines offers a 40% discount for healthcare workers

1. The Government will certify Hotels and Restaurants for hygiene purpose

The Safe Tourism Certification programme requires airlines, airports, tour vehicles, restaurants and hotels to maintain a strict level of health and hygiene. In addition, hotels and restaurants should meet all the 132 criteria to get certified. The government has also advised the hotels to set up a separate section on their property to isolate guests who have been tested positive for COVID-19. In addition, the hotels will have floor markings to follow social distancing. Disinfectant gels will be placed at the entrance of elevators and you will find all the staffs wearing a protective face mask.

2. Tourists will be screened on arrival

As per the new health & safety protocol, tourists must undergo a health checkup on arrival at Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman, Izmir and Istanbul Airports. The body temperature of the tourists will be measured and if there is a suspicion, tourists will be taken for a PCR test.

3. Medical Insurance

Turkey has come up with a medical insurance programme which is available everywhere in Turkey. The tourists can buy insurance through airlines, hotels, tour operators, and at various sales points before passport control. Also, the medical costs up to 3,000 Euros, 5,000 Euros and 7,000 Euros will be covered for travellers who purchase these insurance packages for as little as 15 Euros, 19 Euros and 23 Euros respectively. Moreover, the health insurance package includes COVID care.
