Amber Fort

Amber Fort is one of the best places to visit in Jaipur and it is one of the most iconic monuments in Rajasthan. Also known as the Amer Fort, this fort overlooks the Maota Lake. This lake was the main source of water for the Amber fort. This fort is located on a small hill, 11 km away from the main city. Divided into four main sections, these sections have their own courtyards. These sections include the Zenana, Kings courtyard, temples, gardens etc. A perfect example of the Rajasthani style architecture, this place is a must-visit while in Jaipur. Through the means of the Sound and light show inside the fort, the tourists get to know about the history of the fort. Declared as the UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the 5 other forts of Rajasthan, it belongs to the Hillforts of Rajasthan.

  • One interesting fact about this fort is it took 100 years for the whole construction to complete. A fort that took around a century to get constructed.

  • A very interesting fact about the fort is that there is a secret passage between the famous Forts of Cheel ka Teela.

The historical significance and the cultural importance of the Amber fort is one of the main reasons, many tourists travel to this Fort. Not be also missing out on the fact that this is possibly one of the most scenic locations in Rajasthan. So the Fort is open all days to the Public.

The Ticket rates are 200 INR per foreign tourist and for the local public, they only charge 100 INR for the entry. There are light and sound shows that happen every day at this fort.
