I know what you’re thinking, I mean what can you possibly do for 7 days in Rajasthan right? If you had asked me before I researched to write this blog I would have said I don’t fancy a trip to Rajasthan. But hey! Who knew this hot city located in the northern part of India which is also home to the “Great Indian Desert” had exciting things to do? Well, sit tight and continue reading to be mind-blown by this 7-day itinerary around Rajasthan.

It’s no secret that even now the roots of Rajasthan that oozes of culture and history are the most sought out when people visit. Rajasthan is home to a lot of temples, forts, National Parks, and reserves and of course the iconic hill station of Mount Abu. There are no doubts one can have as the Rajputs have left behind a legacy of history here. On your 7-day itinerary around Rajasthan, few of the cities that will be highlighted are the ‘Sun City’ of Jodhpur, the ‘Golden City’ of Jaisalmer and the ‘Fort City’ of Bikaner. Here is a detailed itinerary for 7 days curated only for you.

Day-wise itinerary:

Day 1 – Arrival- Welcome to the city of Jodhpur
Day 2 – Exploring the gems of Jodhpur
Day 3 – A day of Bikaner: Arrival and a temple visit
Day 4 – Jaisalmer: Golden city sightseeing
Day 5 – Fun in the dunes of Thar Desert
Day 6 – Come back to the Blue City of Jodhpur

Day 1 – Arrival- Welcome to the city of Jodhpur

Your journey begins as you step into the city of Jodhpur. The first thing after you land is to find yourself a cab if you have not pre-booked it. You can ideally choose how you would like to travel here, you can take a flight or a train. Essentially, it takes about 20-30 minutes from the airport to the city centre and if you travel by train you would be able to get to the city centre in just 5-10 minutes. Take a cab and sit tight till you get to your hotel. Preferably book your accommodation inside the old city area as it’s accessible and easy to travel around.

Once you check-in, freshen up and unpack. The rest of your day will be spent sightseeing in this beautiful city. You will begin with Birla Temple – the largest known temple ever!  This will be followed by a visit to a fort that sits on the edge of Aravalli Hills, giving you breathtaking views- Nahargarh Fort. This fort is known to be an architectural prowess, and once you’re done with your rendezvous here you can finish off your day Chokhi Dhani where you can feast on yummy food, get a taste of live performances and even go for a camel ride. With this, your 1st day out of the 7-day itinerary around Rajasthan comes to an end. Get back to your hotel and get a good night’s sleep to gear up for day 2.

Day 2 – Exploring the gems of Jodhpur

On your day 2 of the 7-day itinerary around Rajasthan, you will wake up to exploring the historical wonders of Jodhpur. Make sure you eat a hearty breakfast, your day is going to be kick-ass! Today, you will be visiting 2 forts and an iconic mahal. The first place you will visit today will be very exciting as you can enjoy an elephant ride to the main courtyard of the Amber Fort. Amer Kila is just very exotic and beautiful in herself. After this you can proceed for a short walk or trek to the witness the largest cannon on wheels which is located in the marvellous Jaigarh Fort. The next place you will head to will give you the most Instagrammable pictures ever – Hawa Mahal. You can spend a good 30-45 minutes here and then head over for some jewellery shopping at the bazaars. That’s how your day 2 will come to an end. Get back to your hotel after a nice dinner and get some rest!

Day 3 – A day of Bikaner: Arrival and a temple visit

Pack up your bags and check out of your hotel as we will be heading to the next historic city-Bikaner on the 3rd day of your 7-day itinerary around Rajasthan. Have a healthy meal first thing in the morning and right before you go have your second meal of the day you will be visiting the Karni Mata Temple. It may seem more of an excursion as this temple is located about 30 kilometres from Bikaner. You will most likely have a typical authentic meal around the temple as there are many places that offer great food. This excursion will take up almost close to three-fourth of your day and hence you will come back to your hotel longing for your bed and some rest.

Day 4 – Jaisalmer: Golden city sightseeing

Lets being your day after having your breakfast, check-out, and proceed to Jaisalmer. This is where your 7-day itinerary around Rajasthan will get more interesting as you will be visiting the most famous and gorgeous hotspots like Sonar Kila, Patwon ki Haveli, and Salim Singh Haveli. Check-in to your Jaisalmer hotel quickly and explore these highlights during your day. Be sure to take a beat to blow off your steam at the Gadisar Lake. Once you cover these places is when you will realize why this city is called the ‘Golden City.’ Get back to your hotel once you’re done and get enough rest.

Day 5 – Fun in the dunes of Thar Desert

What’s the fun if you miss camping amidst the sand dunes here? I’m talking about your visit to the Thar desert on your 5th day of the 7-day itinerary around Rajasthan. Have breakfast and check out of your hotel, explore the Bada Bagh first thing in the morning and then proceed to your camp amidst the sand dunes. You can engage in camel safari, enjoy the live performances and have a scrumptious dinner while you enjoy the sunset.

Day 6 – Come back to the Blue City of Jodhpur

Start your final day of the 7-day itinerary around Rajasthan by exploring what’s left of the ‘Blue City.’ Check in to your hotel and have your breakfast. The first place you will be visiting today is one of the biggest forts in the country- the majestic Mehrangarh Fort. after this, you will head on to explore a cenotaph made in the memory of King Jaswant Singh-Jaswant Thada. Your final day will end with a bang as you would be visiting the marvellous Umaid Bhawan Palace before you do your street shopping.

Day 7 – Conclude your 7 days in haven
