JANUARY

  • Pongal, January 14-17: This is the perfect opportunity to go on a week-long trip if you get holidays for Pongal! January 14th falls on a Tuesday and extends till Friday the same week on the 17th. Your trip can further extend through the weekend. If you want a longer holiday and can afford to take off from work, then 13th (Monday) to 19th (Sunday) is perfect for a trip!
  • Republic Day, January 26: Although this isn’t as long as Pongal holidays, you can still make it a long weekend. This can be done if you can afford to take January 24th (Friday) or 27th (Monday) off. 

FEBRUARY

  • Maha Shivaratri, February 26: Depending on where you are from, Maha Shivaratri can be an off day. Make sure to check ahead if you are counting on this date. This can be made into a long weekend if you can extend the 28th (Friday) as an off day since February 27th falls on a Thursday.

MARCH 

  • Holi, March 13: Holi is celebrated throughout the country, although it is more popular around northern India. So, if you have a holiday on 13th March 2025 and can afford to extend your holiday to 14th March, then you have your long weekend!

APRIL

  • Tamil New Year, April 14: Tamil New Year is celebrated on April 14, which falls on a Monday. Hence, it makes it a natural long weekend. It can further be extended by taking off on Tuesday (15th) or Friday (11th).
  • Good Friday, April 18: Good Friday is often a national holiday in a majority of states in India, thus providing a natural long weekend for you to enjoy!

MAY

  • Buddha Purnima, May 12: If you have a holiday for Buddha Purnima, then you have yourself a natural long holiday as it falls on a Monday.

JUNE

  • Bakrid, June 7-9: Bakrid may be a national holiday. The dates fall between Saturday and Monday. You can make it a longer weekend by extending it from Friday or till Tuesday. 

AUGUST

  • Independence Day, August 15: Independence Day brings you a natural long weekend as it falls on a Friday. You can further extend your holiday by taking off on Thursday or Monday.

SEPTEMBER

  • Ganesh Chaturthi, September 1: Ganesh Chathurthi is celebrated throughout the country and falls on a Monday. You have a natural long weekend from Friday to Monday or even extend it from Thursday or till Tuesday.
  • Onam, September 4-5: Here is the perfect long weekend coming up on the most celebrated festival in Kerala, falling on Thursday and Friday, making it a 4-day weekend. You can further extend it based on your convenience.

OCTOBER

  • Gandhi Jayanti, October 2: This is a respected national holiday giving the entire country a long weekend with Friday off, which can be extended based on your schedule. 
  • Ayudha Pooja and Vijayadashami, October 6-7: As part of the Navratri festival, you get a natural long holiday, even more so if you take off from Friday (3rd October). 

NOVEMBER

  • Diwali, October 26: Diwali 2025 falls on a Sunday. But if you want to make it longer, try taking off on Friday or Monday.

DECEMBER

  • Christmas and New Year, December 25-January 1: This is the long weekend that everyone would eagerly wait for at the end of 2025. It is a one-week holiday, from Thursday to Thursday if you manage to take off during the days in between.

Spain has an off-season during March and allows you to explore the historic landmarks and sites without larger crowds. Morocco is also another budget-friendly option that offers pleasant climatic conditions in March.

April

When you think April, we think Tulips! Yes, I am talking about the Netherlands, which is peak season, as it is popular for being the tulip season, particularly in Amsterdam. Since the temperatures are milder during April, Egypt is a wonderful destination to visit and check out the world-famous Pyramids and Nile River without basking in the summer heat. May

You can also take a trip to Bali before the peak season hits and make the most of the pleasant weather conditions in May. Mexico is also a great alternative with lower rates.

June

June is the best time to visit Iceland, as it is in its peak season. The summer brings about the ideal time to engage in activities like hiking, camping and trekking, serving as a paradise land for adventure and nature lovers. Peru is also a peak season, which is also perfect for adventurous activities. For budget-friendly trips, you can explore Italy, South Africa and Greece since these are in their off-season and shoulder-season during June and have affordable prices and warm weather conditions. 

July

July is the best time to visit Bali since it is summer there and is filled with festivities and perfect beach days. You can also consider visiting Canada, as it is also in its peak season and falls under the summer months. Sweden has warm weather conditions in the midst of summer, attracting tourists from all over the world. August

Iceland and Bali are still in their peak season in August, so you have something to look forward to there. November

Dubai begins its winter months and is the best time to visit, allowing tourists to engage in outdoor activities and sightseeing comfortably. Another country you can visit is Thailand, which is in its pre-peak season, with much more pleasant weather conditions compared to the other months. The Maldives is also a lovely destination to visit during November, as the dry season slowly commences, opening itself up to outdoor activities. 

December

December is the ultimate travel month as several countries open up as in-season destinations. The first on the list is a trip to Maldives, with the dry season making it perfect for beach and water activities. Following that is Bali, which is also warm, dry and sunny, allowing tourists to enter a vibrant world of festivities and beachside adventures. Contrastingly, Vietnam and Switzerland are frequented for the winter season. Note that peak season means higher rates. So if you want comparatively lower budget options, then you may want to visit Egypt and take a Thailand tour in early December.
