St. Vitus Cathedral

St Vitus cathedral is one of the attractions and most prominent structure in the complex located in the castle grounds. It was completed in 1929 although the cathedral looks many hundreds of years old. It is one of the most richly blessed cathedrals in central Europe. It is also a place of burial of many noblemen, patron saints and sovereigns.

Golden Lane

The tiny street between the Bílá Tower and the Daliborka Tower is known as the “Golden Lane”. This beautiful street dates back to the 15th century and according to the legends, alchemists had to look on this street to find a reaction to turn ordinary materials into gold. It comprises of 11 historic houses which now contain exhibitions about life in the lane over the past 500 years.

St. George’s Basilica

The city’s second oldest church and one of the most worthy romanesque monuments were founded by Prince Vratislav (915-921) in 920. Positioning on Jiřské náměstí, the current form of the church, a basilica with twin steeples, is the result of restoration and alterations after a fire broke out in 1142. The interior contains the tombs of Prince Vratislav and the church’s ceiling is made of a deep dark wood.
