One of the five coastal villages in Cinque Terre, Monterosso is also the largest of the five coastal villages. The city is divided into the old town and new town which is connected by an underground tunnel. Apart from lemon trees, it is also famous for its olives, grapes and white wines. It has alluring beaches, crystal clear sea water, and beautiful reefs embrace the city.
The new town is rich with amazing quantity and quality of restaurants and hotels. The old town consists of ruins of castles and medieval streets. The beach at Monterosso is Cinque Terre's only extensive sand beach. Church of San Giovanni Battista, San Francesco Church, the statue of the Giant, statue of San Benedetto d' Assisi and Soviore Sanctuary are the main tourist attractions of the city to visit on your Italy package.
Monterosso does not have an airport of its own. Milan, Bologna and Genoa are the closest international airports which operates flights flying from India. Most of the major cities across India have flights flying to Milan with a 1-stop or a nonstop flight.

Trains from Major stations across Italy arrive at Cinque Terre. People are advised to take a boat or walk from here to Monterosso.
The easiest village to reach by car is actually Monterosso, which also has the cheapest parking. Manarola and Riomaggiore do have parking lots above their towns, but you will need to walk from there to the center.
Cinque Terre Pass for hiking is an activity pass available for the region. The pass can be activated by Hikers for 24 and 48 hours. The price varies depending on the number of open paths, but expect EUR 5-8 a day, and for an extra EUR 5 you get limited use of the trains as well.You can get it from the train stations, at tourist information offices or at every start of a trail at each village.
