Cricket Stadiums in the UAE
1. Dubai International Cricket Stadium
Being one of the biggest cricket stadiums in the UAE, the Dubai International Stadium has a capacity of around 30,000. Also, the stadium has previous experience in hosting IPL T20 as it hosted seven matches in the 2014 version. The stadium opened in 2009 and has hosted several Test, one-day and T20 matches. Furthermore, in case if the organizers allow fans to enter the stadium it can only be done with proper social distancing measures. And the Dubai International Cricket stadium has all the necessary amenities.

2. Sharjah Cricket Stadium
This is the oldest and arguably one of the most famous cricket stadiums in the UAE. Sharjah Stadium has a history of hosting important international tournaments as since 1986. With a capacity of 17,000, six matches in the 2014 IPL T20 happened here, with the Kings XI Punjab being the most successful team here. Pakistan and Sri Lanka played the first-ever one-day international match in this stadium.

3. Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium
Located in Abu Dhabi, the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium is the second-largest cricket stadium in the UAE, with a capacity of about 20,000. Opened in 2004, this is also the second test venue in the UAE. Also, the pitch and the ground is a lot similar to Indian stadiums as well. Furthermore, in the 2014 IPL T20 version, out of the seven matches held here, 3 matches were won by the team which was batting first and 3 matches were won by the team batting second, while one match ended in a tie.

Other Stadiums in the UAE

ICC Academy Cricket Ground
As a part of the International Cricket Council’s academy in Sports City, Dubai there are two fully equipped cricket grounds. These are equipped with modern technology and was one of the host stadiums for 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Also, this was used as training grounds by teams such as Australia, Sri Lanka, South Africa and Pakistan.

Tolerance Oval
Located right next to the Sheik Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, it is relatively a less-used cricket stadium in the UAE. This stadium is more than capable of playing host to this year’s IPL T20.
